Does anyone know why Konami made this sudden shift back into outputting games again?

They were like "Look, SNK went back to games. Think we should too..."

Pachinko stopped printing money for them

I've heard, HEARD, that either all or most of the top rung shit-spewing assholes that ran the company into the ground and completely reamed Kojima have left.

I dont know, but I'm glad they did. They have released some pretty bad games, but they are still responsible for some of my favorite games ever.
If they create even one good Contra (Operation Galuga was decent) or another really good Castlevania, then its a net positive.

They didn't develop it, but they did publish it. So I count it as a Konami game anyway ::cirnoshrug I agree that it feels designed for 4 players. Especially the later stages. It doesn't scale difficulty based on number of players, which can be frustrating. I haven't finished it, but I still found it to be a lot of fun::peacemario
it ABSOLUTELY scales difficulty for even just TWO players, that's what bothered me! playing alone is EASIER is what i meant.
in singleplayer you need LESS score to get the stars, like a lot less, and some steps are removed entirely when you play ALONE

the stage designs got even MORE annoying with 2 players, where in singleplayer they expect you to do ONE thing at a time, and give you a helper sometimes where they're needed
i tried with three players once, it gets even HARDER (the score required to get stars goes up, it's almost double 1 player mode)
and obviously doesn't help all 3 are NOT in sync, and we were screaming at each other LOL it wasn't a fun experience.

Maybe a PR move? They have been failing pretty spectacularly on that front for years and nostalgia is a stupidly easy sell in that regard.
I mean, i love castlevania, contra, gradius, and Metal gear (not a fan of MGS3 at all though) and they tried to bring those back, so it works !

Sorry, I think that was my mistake hehe ::sailor-embarrassed
I've only played it solo and with 2-players and I didn't notice any real changes to the levels themselves. Not noticing doesn't mean it didn't happen though, so I'm ok to be wrong here::peacemario
