PS3 Does anybody ever play Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots

I don't know how you could say that it isn't an attempt at humor when the content is so outrageous and absurd. Just because you throw in some in universe references to connect it to the game, doesn't make it any less ludicrous.
Cyberpunk 2077 has tons of absurd and outrageous content and ideas that are not humorous, it is like that because to us these fictional, normal concepts to the people in the Night City, are outrageous. The vibe is same in the MGS4 TV. They seem to be presented as normal TV for the state of the world/America MGS4 is in. The humor, itself, is layered to the sad state the semi-futuristic world has gone to. Just because something is absurd, does not mean motivation for that is to be analyzed as simply. Many in-universe earnest things are absurd, if not slightly funny, because the reality the people have "progressed" to in many futuristic tales.

I bought it at a midnight release. I played through it and I loved every second of it but I never played through it more than once. I want to replay it but I don't have a PS3 anymore. I might play it on RPCS3 if Konami doesn't port it.

That's fine, I personally don't like when video game creators try to meme with their content. It lessens the impact of whatever story they are trying to tell when they signal to the player that they don't take anything of what they are writing seriously. Maybe if it wasn't so upfront and it was an unlockable or an extra/outtake, it would've been fine, but they tried to make the meme a part of the story.

Imagine if Star Wars had a cooking segment in the middle of the story where Luke was cooking Wampas and Tautaunts on Hoth with Chewbacca. Would anyone take that story seriously? Why would that be acceptable in a video game that isn't trying to be a comedy?

Kinda like bloodborne is one focus for the PS4 emulator right now, MGS4 was one of "the" games that the developer and modders focused on making a solid 60fps with strong-but-not-so-strong PC hardware. There is also a community made revival of the MGO that was part of MGS4 that can be played with emulator or real hardware, but it was made for emulator first too.

My favorite MGS in terms of gameplay, and. honestly? Love that game, right up there with MGS1 and 2

Id be delighted to but I sadly am lacking in hardware. I feel that is the one thing keeping most people from getting to it compared to any of the other entries
used PS3s get relatively cheap, cool thing is that if its modded you can play all games for free (well aside from hardware costs), there's a bunch of arcade ports from PSN you can install via .pkgs, and gamepads work on other stuff too (DS3 is amazing). They also emulate PS1/2/PSP so pretty decent machine for exclusives and older games.

MGS4 was alright. I'm planning on replaying it on my 15" Sony CRT. I've played it many times on the usual HD panels that I forgot that the game can be played on analogue display.

There is a novelisation of the game too, which is actually good!

sorry guys, its my first time posting on fourm, I don't want to get into trouble

I haven’t played it in a long time. I still own a copy and a ps3 to go with it, but it may be my least favorite game in the main series. It has its moments for sure but it definitely has the worst cutscene to gameplay ratio of any mgs (maybe of any game series I’ve played). At the time it was fascinating but in hindsight it’s just awkwardly sandwiched between the much better big boss-centered titles that came before and after it. 3 and 5 just stomp it on almost every level.

I think the collection was announced? finally going to stop being console locked

edit: it's not confirmed to have 4 yet? it's weird. probably will, but...

MGS4 was fun when I had the freedom to explore an area and had multiple routes to choose from, but the game quickly devolved into long corridors and at least three on-rails vehicular sections.
The European stage was the most annoying for being a combination stalking and escort mission and I was never able to defeat Crying Wolf without hiding under the vehicle and just waiting for her to walk by.

The switch to over-the-shoulder aiming was a good addition and melee attacks were an even more viable tactic than in the third game.

You might have more appreciation for the pre-game commercials if you grew up with 1980's & 90's dystopia movies.
They are reminiscent of the crap-sack worlds of "Escape from New York", "Demolition Man", and "Total Recall". Just with Metal Gear Solid props and themes.
I think David Hayter should have been the chef if only to make it look like Big Boss enjoyed his jungle meals so much he made his own cooking show.
Even the Octopus Nature Documentary has some extremely absurd news stories in the scrolling text.

MGS 4 is a great game, with some slight weirdnesses that make it feel slightly less replayable when you compare it with the first three games in the (sub)series.

It's honestly a great game, and it being trapped on the PS3 was one of the main reasons I retained that console in the first place when I was ditching some of my surplus hardware.

It's in my top 3 mgs games along with mgs and mgs2.

The bosses were a bit of a weak point (except for
fighting ocelot in the metal gear battle
), but they're more memorable than 3's except for the boss, ocelot, and volgin.

I also love the look of it. The setting, firearms, technology, etc. etc. etc.

(Ignore the poor formatting of this post. Oops.)

Bello ma le scene video occupano quasi la metà del Gioco,le ho trovate davvero troppo lunghe.
L'apice e stato raggiunto con metal Gear solid 3 Snake eather il vero capolavoro della saga ?

I played it but that was before it even had trophies, so it's been a long time.

Why?
Is there really someone who never played a Metal Gear...?!? 😆

The only MGS games I ever beat were MGS1 and 4. I tried to get into 2 and 3 but never could. They seem to be most people's favorites so maybe I should get around to them soon. Maybe I'll grab the MGS3 remake coming out this year and play through it that way. I also never finished The Phantom Pain. It seemed fun but I got distracted by other games and never returned to it.

Edit: I also beat Rising, that game rocks.

Enjoyed it alot when I first played it on PS3.

I recently tried setting up RPCS3 with all the canary fixes and patches in order to play it again, but it kept stuttering/freezing and outright crashing so I gave up. Will just have to wait a little longer I guess.

Best MGS game (after MGS3 imo) and the one I've played the most. Got all the emblems at the end and beat the game in every difficulty. Absolute Peak Fiction as far as I'm concerned!

That game is still the ultimate litmus test capable of separating people into two factions: Those who like dope stuff that's cool and, well... those who are completely wrong. This thread managed to perfectly elucidate this phenomenon I'd say lmao, some mighty raunchy hot takes in here! :poop:

Time to open the window!

Good question. I tried to play MGS 4 but I totally forgot and I kept making mistakes and I said to my self. How did I finish this game? I guess the style and generation are changed now!
