DOA 3 Appreciation Thread

Kasumi, white ninja garb

I don't have one cause I don't really play online, how ever I like using Ayane, Ryu, Leifang
All good picks! “Main” for me mostly just means “character you always use when you play the game”.

I could talk about the gameplay, game design, the music, or anything else, but for real I’m here for Jann Lee.

He’s so cool. And fun to play. And so I go back to the game just to see and play as him.

Tits are cool, but I like Jann Lee.

Also, his interaction and fight with Hitomi is cool. I like to think they become besties. :)
Never played DoA besides a small session of 2 with a friend but I sure do like Tina Armstrong a lot

DOA 3 was always my favorite. I enjoyed modding the character skins, but wasn't very good at it.

So, we’ve joked, we’ve talked about its impact, we’ve done all of that. Now the time has come!

Who are everyone’s mains?

I’ve already shared mine. Jann Lee, yellow alt costume. Boom.

I always pick Ayane in every DOA game, she is my all-time favorite fighting game character.

Sure, lets take a moment to appreciate how good Leifang looks in her Chinese dress.

I love DOA 3 . (DOA ultimate too)

First i was there for the fast-paced action ,
then stayed for the awesome cast of characters
and thanked for the extra booba that Tomunobu Itagaki gifted for this game .

Itagaki knew what makes a badass game awesome and putting the sex-appeal into it underlines the series its more sleak style .

Man.... i think i play the games again .

I love DoA. It's probably my favorite 3D fighting game, fighting for the position with the Soul Calibur games. Unfortunately, I've never had an XBox, so I never had a chance to play 3 and 4. I only really managed to put some time on 2 and 5! 6 is a terrible deal, full of stupid DLC and terrible online play, so I'm sad about the future of the franchise.

I don't know who are the characters available in this game, but my favorite one in the series is Momiji from 5 (actually from Ninja Gaiden but you know.)

One of my favorite fighting games ever. It still looks incredible, too. Considering the game released in 2001, it has no right looking as good as it does to this day.

It's a shame so many see the DOA franchise as nothing more than T&A. DOA and VF are my two most played 3D fighting franchises.

I think the T&A isnt anything bad overall but alot of idiots try to be holier than they are with " Sexy bad " and overplayed it so hard which they ruined the taste of the game with that statement .

The Doa: Xtreme Beach Volleyball series was the actual fan-service but even that was astroturfed to be highly controversial out of nothing . For adults they acted way too childish .

Didn't they demonize Playasia for selling that game? It's literally just attractive female video game characters in bikinis. What's the problem?

Yup . The reasoning behind it was very idiotic .

And it was out of nowhere because some games of the DOA: Xtreme beach series were already released in western countries and had already the warning labels of its fan-service contents .

The whole controversy was from people that are too lazy to look at warning labels and reacted impulsively instead making actual research to know and understand what games arent for kids and about the warning labels overall .

It didnt even made the parents look better who were with it from the start because they rather let the videogame-industry/ state or something else parent their kids instead of them . They never thought one step ahead and now this non-troversy showed more what kind of people they actually were behind it .

DOA 3 is pretty awesome. I remember as a kid playing Volume 1 of the Xbox Exhibition Demo and seeing that they had the DOA 3 booster pack in there which also allowed you to play through one of the modes. I never owned the game at that point so that was my very first exposure to the series and I loved every bit of it. Still holds up incredibly well, much like the other DOA games.

While I play 3D fighters very casually, DOA3 is a great time. As others have already mentioned, the game has held up graphically very well - Kasumi is who I usually play in most DOA entries.

Notably, there are three main versions of DOA3: the original NA release (dubbed DOA 3.0), the Japanese version (3.1, added some costumes and moves) alongside a later European release that balanced the game further (known as 3.2, which is the version used in tournament play).

For users that buy the game on Xbox One or Series, as far as I'm aware, you can change your Xbox's region to be the UK or Japan and resetting the system before beginning the game download to be able to play those updated releases on modern hardware.

Of course, one could also accomplish the same thing by just going the emulation route on PC.

I love the way jann-lee dances from the third part onwards. I have occasionally imitated the dancing while boxing.I also thought jann-lee was very cool and that's why I mained him. It was also the game that made me buy an xbox.

I can't stand the censor happy puritans. If you don't like something, don't play it. Don't ruin something for everyone else. Ironically enough, a lot of the people who complained about DOAX also complained about the weirdos who always bring up violent video games when violence happens in the real world. I'm against both sides. Could video games influence a person to do something bad? Sure. So can music and films. But we shouldn't let a crazy minority control what the sane majority gets to enjoy. Sometimes bad things happen in a free society. While it's a tragedy, we can't let that dictate how we live our lives.
