Do you think it's controversial/acceptable if someone decides not to spend any kind of money on games anymore?

The bottomline is, the only language these companies understand is cha-chinglish, and the only person that can understand your morality and ethical views on this is your own self.

Have I pirated games from developers/publishers that I genuinely like? Absolutely, just look at all my Monster Hunter roms. Have I spent absurd amount of money on games that I pirated before? Also yes, I have multiple copies of Okami across multiple consoles in my shelf.

Good? Bad? Don't matter, they only care about MONEY, while we only care about ACCESS, if both sides can understand that then the problem is solved, it's not rocket science, look at Steam.

Culture is for everyone, not just the people who can afford it. Generally I do believe in supporting creators, but also understand the nuance of prioritizing smaller creators that don't have the cushion of a large corporation's coffers. I know someone personally that "borrows" indie games, but will drop $70-80 on a Triple A product here and there.

I also think it depends on how people spend money on games. Using subscriptions like GamePass or PS+ can be a cheaper way for the consumer to play certain games, but it can't be that profitable for third-party developers. I'd imagine it'd be like trading profit for exposure.

Plus, I grab most games that are free on Epic, heavily discounted on gog or 2nd-hand from eBay. It's hard for me to imagine how I'm supporting those games, exactly.

I think it's pretty difficult to be able to properly support every game/game developer out there. Most people probably can't afford to buy every game they want at full retail price, so people need to find what works for them.
