I think I prefer DC tbh. Raimi’s Spider-man 2 might be my favorite super hero movie but DC just has too many bangers.
The Suicide Squad
The Dark Knight
Superman

Then ofc the animated ones like Under the Redhood.

Logan kicks ass tho too on Marvel’s side.

My issue with Marvel is they don’t know when to put the quips and jokes in. It will be during tense moments or sentimental moments.

I think Marvel has the better Heroes to pull from but DC definitely has the superior rogues gallery imo atleast.

Tv is DC as well imo

Daredevil is awesome but

CW shows and Peacemaker give DC more coverage
Also isn’t Sandman technically DC (s1 of that show is amazing but s2 is still good from what I’ve watched just a let down so far)?
I think the CW shows get a bad reputation. Their budgets sucked ass but they have slot of heart. I liked Star Girl and The Flash

DC obviously has better animated shows even if marvel does have x-men and 90s spider-man

I prefer Troma Entertainment and their superhero movies instead!!! Especially the first Toxic Avenger movie is my all-time favourite superhero movie ever!!!! lolol

I've always preferred DC, even though I also grew up with the famous Spider-Man comics. The approach and character design are more realistic and darker. Batman is a billionaire with no superpowers who relies on the advanced technology at his disposal, using his status to his advantage.

As for Marvel, I've always felt like I was watching a comedy or a parody of superheroes. The characters traits are often more exaggerated, while DC tackles more mature themes. Also, the Joker is the best villain ever created.

Marvel, regardless of what most people say these days and regardless of Disney being a demonic/money hungry company, but I admit that DC is superior in terms of "animation"

When I clicked on this post my thoughts were decidedly "I don't even like the Marvel films, but Marvel" however, you're right, there are some astounding DC films out there that Marvel has just never even come close to.

I think it goes a little like this though (and keep in mind I'm not really talking about the TV shows):

DC has significantly higher highs, but they also suffer from drastically lower lows.

A marvel film might be brain-deactivatingly bland, but they're usually pretty tightly crafted. DC on the other hand - man, sometimes they just sink millions into a film and the end result just isn't even watchable. Marvel's direction might be spiceless as can be, but at least someone there has an idea of what they wanna do with the brand - they aren't just randomly picking up and dropping projects based on some random executive's every whim and they aren't backtracking every other film. Like the Snyder period for DC films - jesus christ, whether you like the films or not, Snyder is an ametuerish director and yet they were THE main visionary for DCs entire cinematic universe for years - like how does that even happen? And worse, after all that garbage, they basically just turned around and said "yeah, none of that mattered". Or how about Suicide Squad: THE Suicide Squad might be a decent, popcorny flick... but you already made a Suicide Squad film and you can't just redact that and pretend it never existed.

DC has some real bangers that Marvel is far too clean to ever make, but Warner have too much money, and these characters are too important to so many people for them to be taking such a blasé and half-arsed buckshot approach to so many of their projects. So my answer is still the same, Marvel beats out DC, but I do wanna caveat that it's really just about consitency because at their best, Marvel makes decent sueprhero movies and DC make genuine Cinema.

DC comics or (Detective Comics comics, I just like saying that) as much as I like the universe it was always like shopping at a Wall Mart instead of Macy's or Lord and Taylor. The content wasnt by any means bad, it just always seemed second rate to Marvel. Then Disney bought marvel and systematically destroyed it, think movies like Mobious and Madam Web. ::puke

Best thing in all of this is...

BLACK LANTERN BATMAN

i have 3 main reasons of why i prefer dc, one is definetlly more stupid then the other 2
1: i like the concepts of dc more, it feels like they use their characters better than marvel, and when they do something it feels less like "looks here is this thing that you like with another that you also like, that i'll be 30 bucks"
2: the desings feel better for me, they are more interesting, marvel feels like guy with 3 colors and one is the ayes
3: and the moust stupid reason of why i like dc, characters are just hotter
maby i just got oversaturated with marvel as a child but i think that's why i like dc more

I feel like overall DC has had much better TV offerings, particularly animated and the "Arrowverse" (which tbh, the latter I was kind of upset that they ditched once the CW had buyout by Nexstar and wanted to be a general sports/entertainment channel). Some of the recent DC films have gotten better, but I feel like they've been unfairly compared to Marvel when the two have entirely different strengths in terms of storytelling

I love both DC and Marvel and just want both to succeed

The old DCAU puts every marvel project to shame.

For context:
Batman the Animated series, Superman the Animated series, The new Batman Adventures, Justice League, Static Shock, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond & the Zeta Project all exist as one (mostly) cohesive chronological timeline.
1993-2006

The Arrow verse from 2012-2022 was equally impressive.
Despite a decline in quality in both writing & VFX as the decade progressed
It pulled off Crisis on Infinite Earths, to the point past DC shows (Smallville being the absolute stand out inclusion) and even Lucifer turned up to pay a role in the plot.
The director, Jesse Warn even used his own private funding to finish the damn thing. Something he sadly laments in interviews as Warner/DC didn't even the acknowledge the event as anything noteworthy.
It is and will most likely will continue to the most ambitious crossover in TV/Film history.

Then the Arrow verse was soft retconned away with Superman & Lois (2020-2024) and killed outright when James Gunn took over.
Shortly after the wonderful year of 2023 when DC released four films with no marketing & cancelled a fifth.
Regardless of what you think of each works qualities, applying scorched earth to (at least) six creative projects is a d!ck move.

DC's films are hit and miss. But they have always allowed for more creative freedom and as such some are way more ambitious (for better and worse) than what Marvel produced.
Ang Lee being fresh off Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon the exception... And that didn't go down well (Hulk 2003)

The run of Animated DC films between 2013 - 2024 are also excellent.
The DCAMU & Tomorrow verse were again, one (mostly) cohesive chorological timeline ending with Crisis on Infinite Earths.
But way less ambitious in scope than the arrow verse take.

Pre-MCU Marvel rocked. Blade 1 & 2, X-men 1 & 2, Spiderman 1 & 2, Hey I'm sensing a pattern.

The MCU in retrospect should have ended at Endgame.
But I can't deny for that decade I and my ex-wife never missed an instalment.

And Marvel's TV outings... Do you have fond memories of that perfect summer you experienced as a child? The one you want to repeat but you know that the lake you visited that summer has changed and you can never re-capture that moment? That's a Marvel TV production.
Even its strongest works (X-Men 1992) has been dredged up from the depths of hell to have a additional season bolted onto it 28 years post mortem.
They're going to do the same with the Punisher (2017) soon.
Marvel won't let a good thing simply exist. It's a constant stream of diminishing returns.

Investment is mute.
They'll Inevitably resurrect what you loved with a different creative team and it won't be the same.
Nostalgia bait is safer than making something new or dare I suggest something ambitious.

Overall I prefer DC, Not only does it actually faithfully adapt comic book storylines, something the MCU has never really done, it's approach of throwing sh!t at a wall and seeing what sticks has resulted in some insane, critically acclaimed & audience beloved works.
Marvels territory is safe popcorn flics, if you want something more ambitiously it's DC.

I'll gladly take the 9 bad DC films we get for the 1 brilliant film every decade.
Than the 40+ mediocre marvel films released within the same timeframe.

Superman 1978, Batman 1989 & The Dark Knight 2008 all raised the bar for Comic book representation in mainstream media.
