I'll admit that I'm a bit of a fiend when it comes to quick, convenient lunches I can have on-the-go (much as both my body and my wallet resent them): cheeseburgers, hotdogs, pizza slices and empanadas are always a huge temptation for me as I walk by places selling them on my way to and from home.

But I have never found the same urge for sandwiches, largely because they feel like something I could make myself (and far cheaper) by just buying a bit of bread and whatever I'd fancy to stuff in-between the slices. The fact that I have been ripped off pretty enormously whenever I did bite (hah) didn't help, either.

That said, I have never been to Subway or any of those big brands selling them, so perhaps it's just a quality issue.

What about you? Do you buy these?

I used to do maintenance/sanitation at an upper class grocery store with a nice deli, and would often take advantage of employee discounts to grab sandwiches for lunch. They had a really good asiago chicken club on whole-grain bread, and a turkey, bacon, and gouda on cheese bread.

Ever since then though, not too often. I generally prefer to make my own sandwiches at home now.

Only if they make them in the store. The grocery store near me makes some really nice ones. Could I make the same thing myself? Probably, but if I just want one sandwich it'll cost me more to buy all the ingredients.

I don't suppose burgers or chicken patty bun sandwiches from fast food restaurants count.

I eat a sandwich nearly every day. Home made. Usually chicken ham with scrambled egg and maybe a few minced tomatoes, onion and garlic bits with the egg. Sometimes with a mung bean sprout side with Thai fish sauce and sesame oil if we have the ingredients.

Most outside gourmet sandwiches cost a lot. If I had the money, I might splurge on Vietnamese Pork Bahn Mi sandwiches and Pan Fried Beef with Garlic ones.

The only cheap convenience store sandwich I regularly buy is a Kani Salad sandwich especially during the Lenten season.

They're okay. I don't really eat many sandwiches, definitely not in enough number to get through a loaf of bread before it goes completely moldy, so if I do I just get one from the store. Local grocery store has some fancier ones if I want to eat something nicer or cheap gas station ones if I don't care about quality

I always buy a lunch meal deal at my Tesco superstore, they make rather nice sandwiches there, I always get either the chicken salad, prawn mayo or tuna & cucumber.
