I don't play online games. If the game does not have local co-op I pass directly.

I might make an exception, if I ever find somebody to play Secret of Mana for SNES :)

My friend was telling me about getting charged 80$ for a PlayStation fee, which I thought was insane. I personally have only paid for switch online but haven't had it in a while.

sometimes I imagine what it would be like to just shut up and play ffxiv via sub, like a normal person and just be invested in that, but im so deep in roms and hacks i need another life for that

The only sub I currently maintain is to an online MMO.

The rest of the subscription services aren't worth it imo. Whether its for online play, a games library or for any of the video streaming sites, that shit just ain't it for me. Totally not worth it.

We had it only when playing the various Pokemon games on Switch; we bought the card for three months. After finishing the game we haven't renewed it.
I miss the "old" times in which on PSVita I played hours and hours (and hours) of "Killzone Mercenary" multiplayer and it was free...

Nah, nothing these days. I used to have a PS3 so didn't pay for online (I bought PS+ for the games of the month that came with it maybe three times tops) and did subscribe to WoW for a number of years, and I also bought subscription time for SWTOR to get access to the latest content on there, but that's about it.

I thought that was pretty much f2p?

it is for quite a long time, you get base game and the first 2 expansions for free which is easily several hundred hours of gameplay but the other expansions you have to buy and pay a subscription for.
The only other limitation thats not there to fight bots is level 70 max for all classes but getting all classes on a character to 70 is gonna take a very long time
