Do you go to Starbucks and/or cafes in general?

Gotta be honest: the concept of "marketable" food irks me immensely, and I'm genuinely bothered by people taking pictures of their damn coffee cups to post online as soon as they get them... The whole idea is alien to me and I can't even fathom why anyone would consider that (or fast food wrappers and the like) to be worth posting/interacting with in the first place.

That's why I haven't rarely set foot in one of those stores unless actually dragged to them.

But I also don't like paying for overpriced coffee when there's nothing special to it 99% of the time.

I'm sure there's something I'm missing, but I much rather do my socializing at a local bar & grill or by grabbing a bite (or coffee!) at McDonald's instead.

What about you?

sure I go out and eat pizza or such because I can´t make that kind of good pizza.

But Coffee shops or Cafe hell not not when they charge you 5-6 bucks for a coffee with some Italian name when they are not even Italian want a damn coffee with milk I don´t give a crap if it called Caffè Latte or Cappuccino. I can make a coffee at home for less money.

Also don´t get me started on the price of sweets in the end you pay 15-20 bucks for what you can get cheap at store fix at home.

Also why pay expensive prices + having to deal with random people that needs to speak so even the dead can hear them.

Fika may be popular in my country but I rather have a Fika at home with my self and my partner paying less money buying decent instant coffee and some cheap sweets or just a chocolate bar.

I think going out on starbucks or such are for people that wanna be lonely with random people so they don´t feel that alone. Or they to damn lazy to make coffee.

French press or pour over coffee are the best ways to prepare it
I am pretty certain sbux puts some kind of addictive substances in those 4k calorie drinks, the line for the drive thru by my house is well over 50 vehicles long by 8am
Speaking of it not being Italian, "grande" is large, but it's how the medium size is named
Venti is "twenty," not "large", but that's what they call it... It is mildly irritating

I get coffee from Wawa or Dunkin. But it's getting expensive. $2.69 for 16 oz? At home I just use instant. Folger's is good. But they are all getting up there in price too. Even so, it's cheaper than buying cups of coffee. Even energy drinks are skyrocketing. I can't give up caffeine! ::angrygenjin

I used to get coffees at my local Speedway.

Nowadays, I find myself going to McDonald's to grab a mocha frappé instead (I don't care what anyone says, that shit SLAPS!👌).

I only go rarely and I don't get any of those "coffee" that only has a few drops of coffee on top of sugar. I don't even get coffee at the coffee shops, I just get a chai latte when I do go which, while still overpriced, usually isn't the more egregious example of overpriced on the menu lol.

The first time and last I stepped in at a Starbucks joint and buy a coffee out of curiosity I was like, “This coffee cost like a combo meal at a fast food restaurant!”

Since there’s free Wi-Fi I kinda sipped coffee little by little and download a bunch of things on my phone for about an hour.

Starbucks and other american coffee are kind of dead on arrival in my country as they have to compete with local Colombian coffee, so I never really had a chance to go to those. Local coffee shops however I've gone a few times but most of the time you can just go to any corner on any street and you are more than likely going to see a guy selling coffee.

nope! coffee tastes gross to me and also makes me tired so i do not...

I don't smoke, I vape....

I’ve never smoked, but I also don’t vape nicotine, I just like the Flavors honestly.
But I do vape my Δ9, which is basically synthesized THC. The reason I bring this up is that the vape shop I buy from also has a coffee shop. You know, a knockoff Starbucks, selling cookies, breakfast cakes, coffee, etc. Their prices are fairly reasonable...

Not $10 for a small coffee. A large black coffee will cost you about $1.50 USD, maybe 25 cents higher than anywhere else. It's the sweets where they get you... $5 for a cookie. BUT, they make really good espressos. So, when I go to get a new vape or bottle of vape juice, I’ll get a cup of triple shot dark espresso coffee, just so I can sleep at night.

Otherwise, I make coffee at home.

Some people want to make that influencer money, and others just wanna be a part of a trend and not feel left out. Same reason some people are very adamant on trying a game on launch: they wanna be a part of the conversation.

I don't usually go to coffee shops. I'd love for there to be a niche or themed one around here. If I wanna eat and/or drink something where there's an atmosphere, I usually buy a light, not messy fast food or drink and enjoy it at the card shop's living room like area. One guy brought a whole ass pizza in there so clearly the manager doesn't give a shit.

It's called sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. A lot of Starbucks drinkers aren't coffee drinkers. They're sugar and caffeine addicts treating themselves to a socially acceptable dessert/energy boost to get through a job they hate or a semester of college that's kicking their ass.

Based XD

The appeal of Starbucks used to be that it was a chill place to get work done for people who enjoy that kind of atmosphere, but some former regulars seem to say they've fallen off in that area.

I don't buy shit at McDonalds anymore due to how overpriced they are unless you use their spyware app. That said, I've tried brewing coffee at home McCafe coffee grounds and it's actually pretty good if you like milder coffee.

I love cafes, local, indpendent, and small ones with nice atmosphere. Starbucks....fuck no. The coffee there is expensive as hell and tastes like corporate crap.

starbucks? no.

but when i was younger i frequented this pub cafe hybrid which i went to almost daily to get coffee and talk with the same old people about the same old things...

Honestly at the prices fast food goes for around here my partner and I usually just opt to go to a local diner or something instead. We used to get Starbucks sometimes but we have to go out of the way for it so it doesn't happen as often. More often I just make coffee with a French press at home :3

The last time i hung about Starbucks was because that was where the local Monster Hunter community met to play multiplayer adhoc on our PSP's.

As far as eatables go, there's rarely anything I want there. I don't like coffee, I'm very picky with my cakes and none of it comes from a cafe or coffee shop.

The only coffee place that isn't even a Starbucks we sort of visit regularly is for this calzone thing with bacon and cheese and only because it's in a hospital and we want to eat something fast after a checkup.

Nope, used to go from time to time to starbucks from some frappucino but stopped a while ago, too expensive and not that close to my place either..

and coffee even if it's not the greatest is free at work so... ^^"

I think it's a european thing. The appearance of depth with little actual substance.
They'll serve you all sorts of drinks, just not actual coffee...
Going to coffee shops was probably more fun in the renaissance.
