Do you go to cafes?

For some reason, my city has gone cafe-crazy these last couple of years.

Everything from the decaying husk of my favorite internet cafe to a former DVD store have turned into little, quaint (franchise-free) cafes that exist within meters of each other, and they all seem to be doing really well for themselves... But I never saw the appeal myself.

Coffee is usually my breakfast, so I don't really like the idea of having it in public... But they do offer some nice combos to try and reel you in, so it's just a matter of time before I finally cave in and start visiting one, claiming it as my own like so many of my friends already have (and they are SERIOUS about it, too, often waking up earlier just to graze there before heading off to work, which... wow).

Today's not that day, though.

I’ve never been the coffee shop kind of guy. Internet cafes still exists here though they dwindled with the advent of smartphones. I still to such place to download (yar har) something every once in a while and play a bit of StarCraft 2 every now and then.

I stay with my lovely tea thank you very much.
And it may sound shocking and heretical but I drank coffee back in the day

but I did not visit a coffee back than if I drank coffee I just did it regularly in a restaurant or at home.

I havent seen an internet cafe in like 15 years. I'm sure they still exist but once people got pocket computers (smart phones) the cafes seemed to go away. At least the kind with a bunch of PCs in them, maybe I'm thinking of the wrong thing.

As far as regualr coffee shop type cafes, I dont go to them much. Starbucks is corporate slop I avoid, and the small independent cafes are cool but I rarely find myself in one.

Regularly. Cafes and coffee shops are part of our culture where I live. People go out daily, sometimes even 3 times a day to a cafe.

I have to admit that I sometimes fall victim to "living in the aesthetic", so yes, I do go to cafes. Getting an indulgent warm drink along with a pastry and sitting down for a while helps me decompress. Rainy day? Even better.

Normally I'd overthink sitting down by myself, but it's normal for people to sit by themselves at cafes and use their phone/laptop. People mind their own business.

It's also useful in that there are sometimes weeks where I don't leave my house (I work from home), and going to a cafe is an easy low effort way to get outside.

Historically, my country doesn't have a cafe culture but Starbucks came to my country and our cafe culture evolved from there. There are small ones popping up all over. It's a good thing because before this became a thing there weren't many other places to go to beyond the mall and bars.

I don't really ever go to cafes since they're expensive and I can't afford them.

There was a cozy little coffee shop in my hometown I used to go to. They had free wifi and cheap black coffee so I would play my Switch or browse my laptop and just vibe. They played jazz music too, which was a plus.

never im not paying 5 bucks for some coffee that they don´t wanna call coffee. Then another 4-5 bucks for tiny ass sweet baked thingy with a fancy name.

Cafe´s just a way to rip dumb people off.

Yeah i used to travel a lot and hit seaside cafes where i got great service.

No cafes in my area.
It's akin to what you might call the "projects" in the US, I suppose. I don't think you see many in those areas either, right?

But yeah. No libraries either...
