On Christmas Day, I like to have
porchetta, which is a traditional Italian rolled pork cut stuffed with herbs, spices, and peppers, typically served with roasted potatoes (which I enjoy with garlic butter). Since moving out, I usually make it myself and serve it to my family alongside whatever my mother makes (almost always veal cutlets and angel-hair sphagetti, both of which Gorse likes very much).
At this time of year, you can also get this stuff called
Martini Rosso, which is an orange-flavoured vermouth that I guzzle down by the gallon, usually with orange juice or on its own over ice. My 'rents also order little glazed cream puffs from this ancient Italian woman who lives down the street, so Christmas Eve is usually spent stuffing those down. I love Christmas cuisine – it's got my favourite foods of the year.
