A post about it was removed from Reddit. One of the comments says the barcode is for New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. But since the image was removed I can't see the barcode myself. It must be a different image because of the barcode. I wonder how many are floating around?

It doesn't mean the rumor is 100% fake. But it's likely that it is.

This is obviously a fake, unless it's For Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary which Nintendo will screw up again like they did with the 35th anniversary hiccup with 3D All-Stars' glitches and Super Mario Bros. 35's short run, Nintendo won't care, and just half-ass their IPs anniversaries with useless stuff. And I don't remember any original DS games getting a remastered port.

Honestly all I know is the Mario game on NES so it even looks fake to me because the whole design is badly made.

1) 3 different pics horizontally placed in separate way that the shots are weird.

2) The Japanese text is just the Japanese version of the English text but the word "new" is not translated. I would get Nintendo would also provide Japanese text of the game because we cannot expect every Japanese to be ok with English or able to read it, especially kids therefore then the "new" text should be translated as "ニュー" which kinda means who designed it doesn't know much about Japanese culture.

My problem isn't that they're greedy

it's that their legal team is a bunch of overgrown slimy rat people who get off to crushing those less powerful than them

if they weren't actively sending T-800's in Toad caps and DMCA orders to the door of little Timmy's house because he made a singular crayon doodle of Pikachu on the daily, I'd personally be more forgiving with the stuff they're pulling with the Switch 2

Yeah, I can totally see an official western release of Mother 3 be closer to $60-$70 USD. They know people have wanted it for ages now. Or they'll just throw it into NSO. I hate NSO though, and subscriptions in general. They'd also probably come after every pre-existing fan translation too, if they ever do an official western release.
