Do you also notice that you're playing for shorter and shorter periods and that you're not really engaging with the game?

I've noticed that my gaming sessions are getting shorter and shorter. This is especially noticeable in Rogue-like games. My thoughts while playing are now just, "Okay, I can stop after these two rounds and get back to watching my TV show..." I understand where that comes from but do you experience the same thing or can you also play a game for several hours without any problems?

I tend not bother with most rouge-likes in general. I have no love for the genre, outside of two exceptions. Some of my gaming sessions are shorter than others, but it really depends on the game I am playing. This doesn't bother me much, as most games I am playing today are either intentionally short games, or games that don't require a lot of time to begin with.

This doesn't happen to me often, but I notice it in some games. Okay, nowadays many games are just bad, so you quickly lose interest.

Yeah it often happens to me that I play a game, get hooked in for a good while, and then abandon it without finishing it beforehand

Sturgeon's Law: 90% everything is crap. It's the true 10% which truly matters and the most important. It's always been this way, but you never notice these things much when you're a kid, teen, or sometimes an early 20s something. Besides, a lot of the games I've been playing currently aren't bad, and tend to be good or decent. I keep myself informed on what I want to play. My selection is mostly indie and AA, with only a very AAA. It's been this way for me since the PS4 era.

Well it happened to me 3 years ago the point I didn't play video games for a year and when I was active on RGT my passion was back.

Don't worry maybe the Passion will be back try different genre maybe you need some new things.

I've noticed that me hopping between games constantly, playing them for only a little while, is usually a sign that I'm distracted or weighed down by something else IRL preventing me from having as much fun as I could have.

Yeah, I can't game all day every day like I used to. Though games can still grab me for hours without any problems, even though I'm pretty jaded with gaming these days. The problem I have however is sometimes I play a game for a good chunk of a day but then in the morning of the next day I just don't feel like continuing it. I guess its not the game's fault, it's just me mostly going with the flow and choosing what to play based on mood. And my mood changes a lot ::cirnoshrug

Nope. I beat Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening on the N64 recomp launcher. Still need to finish Majora's Mask and A Link To The Past on there. Was about to finish Jiggies of Time but my save was lost when i switched to portable for mods and saves. Nostalgia 64 gave me a weird glitch when i got enough jiggies to open the 64 door. It refused to open even after collecting and using more jiggies. Regular Banjo Kazooie was almost done too, but i've memorized that game like OOT and Link's Awakening. I know it inside and out. I can breeze it again no problem. Super Mario 64 is done. Never played through Goemon before so i might attempt that.

The Raziel and Kain mod for Ocarina of Time is so choice! It makes so much sense in context! You have time travel, a ruined world, transformed protagonists, the ability to eat souls after catching them. lol

If I start a game I can't stop until I finish it, as I have OCD, otherwise I can't sleep and it affects my daily life, so I usually do not engage into something easily. A roguelike game is usually not a good option, as I don't like games that are difficult because when I die constantly I lose the will to play but my OCD pushes me to keep playing and I get trapped into something I need to finish to continue with my life. Luckily, I've sorted that out in the past with cheats, just the bare minimum to make the game easier and be able to finish it, but it is not a pleasant feeling.

When the game is not easy but I can make it easier by grinding and spending time on leveling, then I can play for hours without any problem, as long as I have no other obligations such as cleaning, tidying or other home chores, because that comes first or I can't concentrate in anything.

If you just can play without worrying in anything else other than jumping from gaming to watching, then you're a privileged person. You can enjoy time in any form, it does not matter how much time you invest in each thing, as long as you keep enjoying it.

Have my dad in my ear during daytime i tend to kick back at night and later at night now just to get peace. Using x box one to play spotify right now. Usually wednesdays and my fridays are my allocated gaming time where i find theres peace.

doesn't really matter what type of genre ,although the thought of losing all progress isn't desirable to me (i really like noita though ,but that's due to the sandbox-y gameplay) but if the game is immersive enough for me (to me it depends on interactivity not graphics) i don't mind small game sessions and sure as hell don't with the large many hours long ones
This is especially noticeable in Rogue-like games.

I tend to play an hour or less per day. I'll read some other gaming forums like NeoGAF and ResetEra and people over on those forums will finish games in a day or two. Even if I had the time to do that, I wouldn't want to. If I'm enjoying a game that much, I don't want to finish it in a day or two. Take Pragmata, for example. I started playing that, played around 2 hours so far, and I'm thoroughly enjoying what I've played, and I don't want to binge through it, I want to take my time and enjoy it.

I generally play a game for around an hour and put it down. Sometimes go play something else, other times watch a movie, or browse the Internet or work. Rinse and repeat.

I do usually play short session, but not cause i not really engaging with the game. I just want to do other things too, so usually i don't have time to play longer. Sometimes i play longer session. It's depend on my mood.
