As a kid my mom always taught me that "the film ain't over till the credits have rolled". This wasn't necessarily because we hoped there were mid- or post credit scenes, as this wasn't really the norm back then. It was straight up just a matter of principle.

Today me and my mom still stay, while my father waits outside, and I gotta say that whenever I go to see any movie, but especially kids movies like Sonic, Mario, or Disney where you KNOW there will be something extra, it hurts my heart to see how many parents and their kids just "follow the flow" and leave the theatre prematurely.

I mean, not only do you miss out on extra content, but staying also teaches patience. When the credits roll, if I am only with my brother, we use the credits to sit down, relax, and reflect on the movie we just saw. Sure, you can do that anywhere after you leave, but in the theatre your mind is fresh from the experience.

The worst thing is, that when the extra scenes play, the few people who still haven't left stop up to see what they were just about to miss, meaning they are clearly interested in seeing that bit of extra content... so wtf not just fking make it a habit to stay?

If I'm with someone and they are going, yeah.
If I'm alone by myself, no. I love watching credits, particularly if it's a good movie I'd want to know who's responsible for entertaining me in the last 2 hours.

It's a good reference sometimes, if you see something you like let's say the cinematography, jolt down the name, put in IMDB and bam, you most probably gonna find an unknown movie with the creator you already familiar with.

Seeing how damn expensive it is yeah I stay and watch everything I need to get my moneys worth.
But also allot of times movies have fun credits or outtakes in the credits and some movies even have something right after the credits. So yeah I watch it all.

Depends on the movie... if it's something like a Disney flick and I can expect some sort of surprise afterwards, then yeah. But if I'm with the troops and I need to get them fed right after, then I bolt to secure places in the food court as soon as they start rolling.

I think post-credits scenes are kind of a dumb gimmick in general. I like how the Marvel movies did it later on, where they have those cool particularly animated credits first, which usually had a scene after them, then when the end crawl appeared and the only thing that came after that was usually just a little easter-egg funny scene, not some big teaser.

Though in general it just depends on the movie. The last time I went to the cinema was to watch Dune 2, and the time before that was to watch Dune 1, and I'm pretty sure I stayed both times just because they were nice experiences and I wanted sit and think about what I had watched for a while.

If I sit in an inconvenient place though and an army of moviegoers have to trudge by me, I tend to move along with them because I don't want to be a bother (Though that also gives you the opportunity to move down to the front row for the credits scene if you want!)

I'll stay if they let me, but honestly I can't stay most of the time because the DAMN LIGHTS ARE TOO BRIGHT

Stay for the credits and you won't be tangled with everyone else trying to leave right at the start of the credit roll

Oh yeah and if I'm with certain group of friends, if we watch a movie where there is a character always in costume or unseen faces (mostly horror films), or maybe even anime, we often guess who is the suit actor/voice actor behind those characters.
We would wait for the credits just for that, loser buys drinks.

Usually i stay for the credits yeah, most movies nowdays have some kind of post-credits so it just became the new normal for me

post-credit scene is basically an ad so it's not important to me, but i still stay for the credits because i paid in full, so i need to watch all of them.

In my case depends of the movie. If it is a Superhero movie or a movie of a big franchise I watch the credits to see the post credit scene, but in other cases no.

This is exactly it; it hurts me when an employee comes up and says something like, "There’s no post-credit scene!" I don’t care—I’ve been watching the credits of films long before this post-credit scene trend, which I don’t like very much. I think this constant desire to always want more isn’t great for cinema.

Pro tip from someone who worked in a theater for a time. If you are only sticking around for the post scene and not the credits themselves, the house lights will always tell you if there is one. (85% of the time)

when the credits start if the house lights go al the way up - no post scene
if they only go half way there is a post scene and they will stay at half until after all the post scenes have played.

The only outlier is if they do outtake reels, some times half lights sometimes full lights, no rhyme or reason there.

Depends on the film. If I really liked the film, the credits look interesting, or I like the music playing I will stay. It also depends on how badly I need to use the restroom. Sometimes I just need to go too badly when the movie's over to hang out another 5-10 minutes.

Haha, I stay regardless of my bladder. I am just that stubborn xD

Thanks for the tip! Never thought about that! Is it worldwide though?

I mean... the Marvel movies kind of trained me to stay until the credits are finished.
...
And so did my little brother, who loves to watch the credits for some reason.

I can speak for the United States, the UAE, and Japan. I have either worked at or seen movies in these countries. Results may vary in the rest of the world but my guess its fairly common practice since most modern theaters have programmable lighting.

What kind of theatre we talkin' about? I left my seat before star wars the force awakens even started ?

I no longer care for post-credits scenes. Thought when I'm watching a movie with other people they always want to so I stay there for the sake of company.

Depends on the movie, really. If it feels like a movie that will have some sort of extra thing at the end, I'll stay around. If not, then I leave.
