I've been playing the Megaman Battle Network series for 30-40 minutes at a time on the shuttle bus after finishing my Coupang work and heading home. The one I'm playing now is a fan-translated version of "Operate Shooting Star." I look at the walkthrough whenever I get stuck, but it makes me feel kind of dependent on it. Is it okay to refer to a walkthrough if I'm only playing for short periods?

It's okay to refer to walkthrough whenever, if someone's going "you didn't really beat it" they're probably a butthole irl
I'm wondering which would be better for immersion:
using a walkthrough/guide, or
just playing a game freely, going with my gut.

I'm thinking about which one would maximize my immersion on my shuttle bus ride home from work.

That's going to totally be different from person to person. If you feel a certain way about looking at the walkthrough, then don't? But if you're super stuck, being stuck isn't fun, and that's when I would look.

Honestly. if you feel stuck then go for it, you can also check for some cool strategies or broken chip combos, there's a lot of room for playstyles and the games reward you a lot for going the extra mile and wrecking enemies and bosses in record time, which to achieve you need to understand a lot of each game.

operate shooting star the mmbn1 port for DS? no. original mmbn1 for gba? yes.

If I get stuck for long enough I'll reference a walkthrough. Sometimes you just can't figure stuff out on your own, and that's ok. Often times the alternative is people just dropping the game because they can't progress.

It's fine to use a walktrhough in case you don't know where to go next. Especially with RPGs and their buttload of secrets and hidden items.

Asking people a question like that is very weird imo, do whatever the fuck you want, grow some balls/develop a personality and stop being dependent on weirdos on the net ffs, youre not even asking for the opinions of others or what they do, youre basically asking for permission. It seems like you want to rely on answers here to guide your conscience oO

I dont use walkthroughs, it spoils games completely for me, looking up vids and secrets just ruins the games. On a second playthrough thats another story but for the first time i wouldnt do it, maybe if im stuck for MANY hours but that hasnt happened more than a handful of times in many hundreds of games.

This seems like an unnecessary level of aggression to a simple question.

Your opinion, i call it me caring for a person whos shown signals of alarming levels of dependency on others they dont even know. Theres nothing simple about the question that was asked. Maybe its just a case of English not being their primary language but this post is concerning.

You really got all that from one post?

i planned to play the gba versions myself on my xperia play. I think you since you are playing the ds version its better (you wont get lost as much)

Just use a guide when you get stuck, dont stress about it too much of course its still immersive because a lot of games had player guide books come out for people who wanted to get the most out of the game back then (i think now too? i dont keep up, i live under a rock put there by indie games)

for me it seemed like they actually didnt want to be dependent on the manual or guide so they came here asking us to want to know if its cool to look at guides and if we do it too, and whether or not it hurts immersion. This is a legit question that i would ask people of this place here who are welcoming. The aggression was uncool, unnecessary even
