It was close to Halloween, either the evening before or a couple of days before. Been a long time since 1994.... I was bored. Bro was out with his then date, Amanda... who is a cool chick in her own right, but that's not the point.

I was left watching the house and doing chores since I had the night off from my part time job, and there was no school the next day. So while waiting on the washing machine to do its annoying egg timer buzzing sound that it did when everything was done, I was flipping through channels looking for something to watch....
I mean, it was almost Halloween. Had to be something interesting on.

It was mostly reruns of movies and horror shows I had seen enough times to quote them. Didn't want to rewatch Friday the 13th Part 6 for the hundredth time, or A Nightmare on Elm Street... whatever part was playing on the marathon at that time.
Even back then I felt Michael Myers was overhyped as a movie villain.

So I flipped past channel 54. The Disney Channel then, And round this time of year, or where I lived anyhow, Disney always had a free week of shows because of Halloween, so they could rerun stuff like Hocus Pocus, Disney Halloween cartoons, and all that....
Ya' know... hook the kiddies so they would bug their parents into oblivion to subscribe.

Then, like now, I detested Disney, but I was scraping the bottom of the barrel and hoping beyond hope they were playing the old cartoon with the dancing skeletons. That was at least kinda cool, I thought.

But that's not what was playing.

Music... mysterious and brooding... gothic... even a bit unapologetically cool...
But this was the Disney Channel...
...they never had anything actually cool....

And the intro told the whole story without a single word of dialogue
that is real story telling.
Then the fantasy knights, the gargoyles breaking from stone when the sun set, and Goliath roaring as the stone skin shattered.

My first time seeing Disney's Gargoyles.
And I was hooked.

(That is, without a doubt, the coolest fucking shot ever.)

I think they played 3 or 4 episodes. Can't remember now because of the aforementioned Halloween preview weekend. Still to this day, I actually love the show.
It's one of the few Disney properties I do like, Pirates of the Caribbean of course being another....

So, any of you ever watch this? Then or now?

And if you haven't, I really recommend it. Though the last season, as I remember, got kind of meh and weird... even for a show about gargoyles.

Dude! I used to love that show SO MUCH! I even begged my dad to buy me a Gargoyles-themed lunch box!

Incredibly good, criminally underappreciated show.

Disney had some good TV shows back in the 80s and 90s no question, better than their movies at that time to be honest.

Awesome show and I loved how there were multiple Star Trek: TNG cast members who had roles in this show.
