The 90s was not just a high point for Disney animated movies. They stepped up their game in the videogame department as well. Due in no small part to Disney making a deal with Sega. Many of those games had the same animators as the movies. Famously, the sega genesis version of Aladdin actually looked better than the SNES because they worked with the movie's animators to make the movie as painstakingly accurate to the film as possible. So, I think I'll start by marathoning reviews of the classics to come out on that era.

To rank the genesis Disney games I've played thus far:

1. Mickey Mania
2. Castle of Illusion
3. QuackShot
4. Donald in Maui Mallard (Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow)

Very nice

Here's my 'be in the know' Genesis HOT play.

1 - Aladdin Genesis
2 - World Of Illusion Genesis
3 - Hercules PS1
4 - Quackshot Genesis... yeah that one is amazing, I agree.
5 - Lion King Genesis

This I can get behind...

1. Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse
2. Pinocchio
3. The Jungle Book
4. Aladdin
5. Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast

Granted, these are the only ones I've played due to Blockbuster and Hollywood Video back in the day. There is probably others I'm not aware of for the Genesis.

Here's more my list

1. World of Illusion Starring Mickey & Donald
2. Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
3. Aladdin
4. Quackshot Starring Donald Duck
5. Toy Story

Runners up
Mickey Mania
Ariel: The Little Mermaid
Disney's Bonkers

Heck yeah!

The Little Mermaid (NES)
Mickey Mania
Donald Duck: Goin Quackers (PSX version)
Both Chip and Dale NES games
Both Ducktales NES games too! (And the 2017 remake)

I'd definitely go with Goof Troop first, DuckTales second, and I guess World of Illusion third because it's so pretty. I've yet to play the Donald Duck or Chip 'n Dale games. Darkwing Duck had a good game as well.

Oh, I forgot Aladdin and The Lion King. Aladdin would be my number 2, and Lion King would be number 6.

I also got the Hercules game off of steam (fun fact: much of its gameplay was taken from the canceled Maui Mallard sequel). That one's ok. I have some issue with the control amd the plane switching (as in, it's not always clear where you even CAN switch planes).

Well, DuckTales and Chip and Dale were not on genesis. But I do have them on the Disney Afternoon collection, and yes, they are great games.

Oh I honestly did not know that about Hercules, very interesting.

Hercules still impresses me for what it is, how they used 2D sprite work mixed with the 3D environments, even those scrolling stages look really cool and some boss arenas like the 3D Hydra. Kinda blew my mind back on those PS1 days.

Your list is solid mate even with the missed titles you just mentioned.

The Little Mermaid
The Jungle Book
Darkwing Duck
The Lion King
Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers
DuckTales
Aladdin

I recently posted here that i was playing some Disney games made by capcom on snes recently, but thanks to you guys, now i have more to play on Genesis, thank you, also is it me, or i enjoy these games more as an adult (25) than when i was a wee lad? like i get them more than when i was a kid and struggled with them.

Thank you. Look up footage of the canceled Maui Mallard sequel, Lost City of Dread.

I've played Maui Mallard on SNES. I also have Magical Quest on gba, a childhood favorite.

To this day I cannot beat The Lion King for SNES. In over 30 years of gaming I have not made it past the Watering Hole stage. I shit you not.

Some of my favs include Tarzan (N64), Hercules (PS1), The Emperor's New Groove (PS1), Aladdin (MD), Toy Story 2 (PS1), and The Magical Quest (SNES)

you should look for those cute little japanese exclusive games with mickey and donald they were very dare i say it moe

That flamingo sequence in I Just Can't Wait to be King is a nightmare.

Yeah that is a horrible second level, especially that one part where you ride that stupid ostrich and you gotta jump over that one tall branch.

Kingdom Hearts comes to mind.Yes, that was pure Disney but I liked it.

Oh, ostrich. For some reason I remembered it as a flamingo.

Aladdin is much, much better. Genesis in general has better animation than SNES (even if SNES has better everything else).
