do you think Digg can overthrow reddit? If so, do you think Digg's administrators will learn from their past mistakes?
likely scenario, but I'm just a bystander. I wouldn't know. Whatever happens, it's gonna make damn good entertainment. They wont only cause both sites are unbearable and if a scenario were to play out that reddit is killed. The residents will start a sacred pilgrimage towards Digg and other sites and destroy them from the inside out. Like a parasite or a virus
hell if I know. don't shoot the messenger. I'm just watching sog's videoLet me guess, they'll be using AI training, right?
No, thanks.
Tbh have never used any of them but judging both of them they are reasonably insufferablelikely scenario, but I'm just a bystander. I wouldn't know. Whatever happens, it's gonna make damn good entertainment.
Too slow Gorse, I did use a crystal ball, and you're totally right about what's gonna happen lmaoIt'll get a slight bit of attention for a few days (and that's being optimistic) after launch, then immediately drop off and everyone will go back to Reddit. How did I know that? Do I have some sort of a crystal ball? I'll never tell...
EDIT: Wait an effing second, Reddit stock is plummeting? Why? Shouldn't it, like, have a massive surge right now, because everyone is using it to complain about [BANNED PERMANENTLY]? That's kind of a weird thing to be happening.
From what I've read, Kevin Rose wants to use AI for moderation. That should be funny. Also, he's involving the co-founder of Reddit, so I don't see how Digg is going to set itself apart much.Let me guess, they'll be using AI training, right?
Remember when BlueSky supposed to replace X?
If it's so great, then why so many have returned to that shithole, and still post there no matter what?
Digg to Reddit, will be what Bsky is to X. The underdog, an extra platform to disperse everyone.
Hate to burst your bubble, but even forums like this fall under the definition.Social Media is the bane of all that is good about the Internet. Please let it all burn.

I'd argue that discussion forums are different from typical social media, but I get that it's really subjective. There's also the status page which is more similar to a typical social media platform.I don't know if you appreciate the irony of posting that on a internet forum. lol.
The sad part is that he's not even all that wrong.I don't know if you appreciate the irony of posting that on a internet forum. lol.
Ukraine_UA is an ultra-patriotic sub that gets you banned not just for speaking russian, but English too, people got bans for linking to English Wikipedia or news sources... yet a mod insist writing in Ukrainian in latin font, which is infuriating, a competing sub r/Ukraina has the OPPOSITE rule and people get banned for speaking out AGAINST those who use russian language. And it apparently banned religion too, which is absolutely out of nowhere when targeting a majority Christian country with a significan Muslim and Jewish population.
Funniest is people mistaking one sub or the other and catching a ban because good luck navigating two minefields at the same time... in the end, the main sub to have Ukrainian-language discussion is reddit_ukr, which is a personal sub of some girl who does podcasts or something, most people have no idea who she is, but a niche group for fans of a YouTube channel replaced main subs for ENTIRE COUNTRY OF 40 MILLIONS simply because moderation isn't as draconian – which brings another problem bots and scammers where poor mods who didn't expect so much responsibily
nah I get that. was just posting news I got from SOGI stay out of political subreddits and my reddit experience has been fine. The downvotes are annoying but I'm used to them by now. Emulation/Retrogaming subreddits are pretty solid, as well as art discussion/advice subreddits.
