What do you think about sharing little trivia we know about gaming stuff?

Like did you know that Super Mario 64 was inspired by the developer Argonaut Software, that seeing their idea for a Mario game taken by Nintendo, ended up releasing the game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos?

Naughty, naughty Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto!

Im not sure why inspiration is something to be considered naughty, unless you are insinuating something else. Mario 64 came out a full year before Croc did. It is true that Agonaut software had a relationship with Nintendo, after all they did develop StarFox for the SNES, and it is true that they showed Nintendo a tech demo they worked on as a concept for a potential Yoshi related game that Nintendo ended up not green lighting.

But what makes Mario 64 so special (and what makes it age so well) is how well it controls for an early 3D platformer. Every other 3D platform around that year controls nowhere near as well as Mario 64. And that is something that was not inspired from Croc, as it has a completely different control scheme for 3D movement (tank controls).

So while I do think that the Croc prototype could have reinforced some shared ideas both developers had, such as a free-roaming character that can move 360 degrees in a 3D environment with an adjustable camera, I think that is where the similarities end, as the execution of 3D platforming between the two games are very different.

the fact you could crash ps2s in tony hawk's underground 2's multiplayer by typing a bunch of symbols with a keyboard sounds like the most made up thing ever but is actually real.

That makes me think of tonyhax, which is an exploit packed in with the PS1 version of Tony Hawk designed specifically to allow to play backup games.

no good satan GIF

some people associate the birdman with landing the first 900, i associate him with being the first and only "pro skater" to crack the 360 ;)

In the Japanese version, Pokémon Diamond is available in the library to unlock, revealing which Pokémon have married humans.

yeah its me with Gardevoir and Meowscarada

A couple Atlus games may or may not have multiple osts. Lemme explain, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment has 3 different soundtracks. The original PS1 music of course, music from the CD that was mostly used on the PSP game, and oddly enough the in game battle themes that actually play in the game.

CD version

Actual version

The boss theme isn't the only one either, it's every battle theme that sounds a little different in game vs on the official soundtrack releases, and it's specifically ONLY Eternal Punishment. Crazy, ain't it?

There may be another though. Devil Survivor on DS vs 3DS have different versions of the music. The DS game actually has more instruments and even some actual solos that aren't in officially released versions. I haven't heard every difference, but Battle Beat having softer drums and a couple of differences in a video was a shock and I thought I was tripping lmfao. It's even more obvious with Deep Night though. From the start, you will hear an extra guitar and during the part where it's supposed to loop, an extra section in the DS version.

Official release

hope that blew some minds a little

The amount of columns displayed during the PS2 boot up has something to do with either the amount of game saves you have on an insterted memory card, or the amount of total games you have played historically. I've read multiple explanations but so far those two are the most common. I couldn't find anything in depth that had concrete evidence, however.

「シンオウ むかしばなし その3」“Sinnoh Folk Story 3”“Sinnoh Folk Story 3”
ひとと けっこんした ポケモンがいたThere once were Pokémon that married people. There once were Pokémon that became very close to humans.
ポケモンと けっこんした ひとがいたThere once were people who married Pokémon. There once were humans and Pokémon that ate together at the same table.
むかしは ひとも ポケモンも おなじだったから ふつうのことだったThis was a normal thing because long ago people and Pokémon were the same.It was a time when there existed no differences to distinguish the two.

Noone never talks how Dark Souls was inspired by Castlevania and Ico, mostly only Berserk mentioned, anime/manga, but not Berserk game, for Dreamcast

I don't want to do this.
I'd either be really sad, or really embarrassed.

Yes I know a lot of useless video game facts and trivia(l) knowledge and it is both sad and embarrassing.

Eu não quero fazer isso.
Eu ficaria muito triste ou muito envergonhado.

Sim, eu sei um monte de fatos e curiosidades inúteis sobre videogames, e isso é triste e constrangedor.
I also love games, but I'm having trouble concentrating. In games I get sad, I'm more or less...

I got a really totally obscure fact that not many know: did you know that Super Mario 2 in the US wasn't originally a mario game????

There's a fully remixed version of the wild battle theme from Pokémon Diamond/Pearl hidden inside Catherine of all games

Did you know that the “Play Station” isn’t the first project Sony did with Nintendo?

Believe it or not it almost cost a young engineer named Ken Kituragi his job.

Kituragi wanted to venture into gaming after the success of the Famicom/NES. Kituragi designed the custom audio chip for the Super Famicom/SNES behind his superiors backs. He somehow convinced higher ups that the said venture would benefit Sony greatly.

So every time you booted that 16bit Nintendo console of yours always remember that it sounded great because of Mr. Ken.

This is not the first video game machine produced by Sony.

Nor is the Super Disc.

And no, the Hit Bit is not the first either.

The first Video game system Sony actually made was this prototype during the 70s.

How Ducktales, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck uses the Mega Man engine and assests?

The level layout looks very similar.

Chip & Dale's jump sprite looks similar to Mega Man's jump.

It's undeniable that the structure is similar, but: what asset is the same? The all-blue background that's a different shade of blue?
