Did any Mortal Kombat game scare you as a kid?

Hi, i know this is gonna sound stupid, but as a kid MK4 scared the ever loving shit out of me, in retrospect MK4 is the goofiest MK title, but the dark ominous atmosphere espcially in goro's lair, and that one stage with the big blue face things, the continue thing where the character was falling down in a well, plus i mean i was friggin 5 or 6, and my cousin's used to tease me because they knew it scared me shitless, and scorpion's get over here was just the worst of them all.
What about y'all am i alone on this lol?
Oh boy you had to remind me of the continue screen of that games. but as the series as a whole I have to say the fatailes because as a result of them I grew to fear the series yes fear the series due to over abundance of blood and gore.

You're missing the most important part of its history. Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 were massive hits and the series became a cultural phenomenon in the early '90s, and MK3 was still a big hit in 1995. It was one of the first video games to get a Hollywood live action movie for a reason. Even the digitized graphics were cool and cutting edge for a few years, as everyone was chasing realism and 3D wasn't quite there yet. The problem is it completely floundered after that as video games transitioned to 3D in the 32-bit era, and before long it became more of a niche series, with several poorly received entries and spin-offs, while things like digitized sprites were now seen as dated and corny in retrospect. There was still some goodwill associated to the name for many who'd grown up with it, but the die-hards who still cared were just hoping for a return to glory.
I remember vaguely how mortal kombat was king during the 90's everybody and their mom has been talking about it gotten to the point where random news stations are talking how violent the game is.

Yeah I apparently neglected to mention after the initial few games the franchise fell off until X, but that is an interesting spin on it

Let me tell you a short story on how my parents are playing mortal kombat 3 on pc and let me tell you I gotten so traumatized that I didnt play alot of the games because of the ultra violence and abundance of blood and gore not in the cartoon way the terrifier/xenocyber level ultra violence.

I had some fear as a kid when i kept the MK:Armaggedon on the main menu screen because of the unsettling music while the characters were standing behind the other like they were about to jump themselves.

I also i got scared sometimes with the skull cutscene before it...

Also, the GODDAMN KRYPT MONSTER from the later games...

So not really any of them. BUT THE COMMERCIAL FOR 3 home release TERRIFIED ME AS A KID.

I remember my mother had The Nutty Professor playing on VHS and this fuggin thing popped on. To this day, I still remember the fear and anxiety that I felt. That uneasy, queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Cool fighting game for the time. I can watch it now and be fine but man back then, you couldn't force me to watch it again.

I've never seen that commercial, but it's so '90s. Somehow the home release of MK3 is a HR Giger Alien ready to burst out of your stomach for no reason. I like it.

i think mythologies sub zero scared me at how the hell did they made that game soo bad
I was going to say this lol the only thing that scared me was how shitty Mythologies was. I was little when we had it and I never made it anywhere. Years later, turns out I didn't miss anything the game just sucked.

Seeing my dad and uncle boot up Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS1 was something that scared me a lot. I was so used to colorful and child-like videogames like Super Mario World or Mega Man. That intro with the dragon logo and fiery background may be simple, but the sound and impact the title screen makes when you boot it up was nothing that I had seen before. This made me even more scared to play Mortal Kombat when the PS2 games started coming out. Little did I know these would be my favorite games to play once I got older, especially Deception.

The games, themselves? Not really. But this magazine cover sure as Hell gave me the creeps as a kid...

El mk 4 y algunos escenarios de los juegos anteriores a ese en la noche, por su ambiente que se sentía vacío

Sorry for triggering a bad memory dude lol, me i was not a 90S kid so i don't remember the hype, even if i was the hype would have never reached my country due to the troubles my country faced in that time frame.

I know right! Trilogy and most of the PS2 MK games had a sense of horror when it came to the music and sound design. The character select screen looking all dark with the sound of metal as you hovered over the cast was so different than what I was used to. Street Fighter and Tekken's character selects were always vibrant with color and had music that got you hyped but also excited. MK's music felt like you were fighting a desperate and uphill battle.
