I've only played through the 1st one and a little of the 2nd one. But i'm curious to know what everybody who has played it thinks.

I’m not a hardcore fan but I love both D1 and D2. I thought D3 was completely awful, and what little I’ve played of D4 I think it’s alright, but it’s veeeery different.

It is! The artist is Keith Parkinson, I love the classic vibe it has.

I played all of them, and probably put a lot of it into D3. Which was actually very enjoyable on PS4 where it played a lot more like a Champions of Norrath (PS2 game, give it a try if you like chopping).

I love the first game. The second is fun too, but the atmosphere and overall vibe of the first makes me come back to it a lot.

I love Diablo 1 and 2, didn't care much for 3 and didn't even bother with 4 and Immortal.

Lately, I have been replaying Diablo 1 via DevolutionX on pc, and I am loving that. I have Diablo 2 LoD (classic) already on my pc, is it worth it to buy Diablo 2: Resurrection? Classic still plays on my Windows 11 pc, and I don't want to give Blizzard money, but some QoL improvements may be nice (plus I don't know of any free remakes like DevolutionX for Diablo 2, nor where to pirate Resurrection).

I don't want to derail this Diablo thread too much, but yes Champions of Norrath and its sequel are top tier hack n' slash/dungeon crawler/rpg things. ESPECIALLY with a multitap and a few friends.

Couldn't agree more. I've put way too many hours into RTA between different friend groups to count I wish I still had that memory card with my cleric and berserker on it.

I think Resurrected is probably one of the best like five remasters ever made. It looks perfect and plays perfect (because it’s the same game, you can even toggle graphics mode with a button press like the Halo remaster) and has lots of QoL improvements like keybinding abilities.

Is it worth the pricetag? Not if you still have fun with the original and definitely not if you don’t want to give Blizzard money, but I got it as a gift from a friend and I loved every minute of it personally.
I would love to have it on console just for comfy couch play but I don’t want to buy it just for that when I already own it.

My Orig D1 Disc is long gone. and my Orig D2+ LoD Disc got damaged over time, so bought the battle Chest set back in 2002. and of course D3 on release.

i Started playing the OG Diablo probably a year after it came out, give or Take.
Loved the Game, and why i Loved Diablo 2 as much. Necromancer Myself.
Diablo 3 was meh.. ok and never gave 4 the time of Day.
And let's not even speak of Diablo "Don't you all have Phones?" Immortal

I think it’s a shame that Immortal has that cool Blood Knight class all to itself.

@Waffles shouldn’t this be moved to the general game board instead of the general board (if such a thing is possible)?

Played 1. Was okay, never liked the fighter and went rogue or wizard.

Diablo 2 had a ton of fun classes, but i loved to play it with the Zy-El Mod.

Diablo 3..... didn't look fun. Didn't feel fun... none of the classes felt like i could understand what the hell they did. Give me a class i can have fun with for gods sakes.

It felt a lot like the LotR knockoff game 'war of the frozen north' or something where it wanted to be LotR so much but didn't have the name/licensing, but all the fights felt like a slog and it was barely surviving wave after wave of... whatever and was meh.

Diablo 4... don't know, don't care. Not for me. I'm one of those that doesn't have a phone afterall... (that's sarcasm)

I grew up playing Dibalo and Dibalo 2. I played 2 so much when 3 finally came out I was sooooo sick of Diablo. It was not until 2020 I played and beat Diablo 3. I do own 4 and I played all of act one but not much more it´s a nice looking game but not the most fun.

Honestly I become more of a Titan quest fan and looking forward to Titan quest 2. Also Sacred is a damn nice game as well and I hate to say it Minecraft Dungeon is more fun than Diablo 4.

I enjoyed my time on D2:R, and it plays really nice on a modern rig. It's probably worth it if you're into the multiplayer seasonal ladder stuff, though I'm ignorant as to whether or not the original game is still going with new ladder seasons so YMMV- especially since you don't want to support the company.

How is your run on Devolution going? What class are ya?

I think D2 is probably in the running for the most amount of time I've put into a game, over like 2 decades in this case of course; it's probably up there with SF4 and unfortunately Dota2. Like everyone else here has said, Resurrected was an amazing remaster that I'm honestly surprised didn't get messed up somehow given the whole 'modern Blizzard' thing. I was never able to play much D2 back in the day due to terrible early internet, but I spent a solid too much time with Resurrected. Favourite class is probably the Amazon or pally, I usually go jabazon or zealot build; hammerdins are just boring. Made it pretty far into Hell on singleplayer with a rabies build weredruid, that was actually a pretty fun time once it got going.

D3 is one of my greatest gaming disappointments along with MGS5. I don't have much else to say about it. Never played D4, have no desire to; the damage has already been done for me.

Sorcerer, I have made three play throughs on normal (single player), having to start over and level more when I reach Diablo each time. The last stage seems to be filled with units that are immune to most of my spells. I have increased my spells a lot, so I hope this third run through is enough to kill Diablo.

Maybe if I took a run through at a higher difficulty I would have better gear and such, but it feels like cheating to not complete the story on a lower difficulty first.

Hellfire has been a Godsend, as it increases the loot and experience available (I never had the Hellfire expansion back in the 90s and 2000s, didn't even know it existed until I got it on GOG).

As for multiplayer, no, that's not my thing. I feel too old to put up with other people in games unless I know them well.

I have to say it; D2 Resurrected SUCKS! ?
the game was perfect until they tried to "fix" it
typical modern blizzard, everything they touch turns into poop

i played D2 every single day since 2001 and was fully addicted to that game!
and then Resurrected came out and they broke the PvP...?
Both the Player Vs Player and Player Vs Monster aspects had a interdependent relationship
PvM being the "supply" & PvP being the "demand"
so without PvP there is really no point in playing the game at all..
oh and its riddled with bots so nothing has value anymore.

Yes D2R looks great thanks to Vicarious Visions
but the game itself is absolute ? thanks to Blizzard

Honestly (and no offence) if you think D2R is a good game then you never actually knew the real D2.
OR you're Blizzards target audience & a legit "casual dad gamer" who only plays 10 minutes of video games per week and thinks D2R is great XD

the original D2 is still available and runs on the old battle.net
its dead now but i still log into the old servers occasionally and reminisce at what was once so beautiful & dear to me
