Anyone wanna play Diablo 2 this weekend - Saturday 24th?

All you gotta do is download Diablo 2 (duh), and Hamachi to play online.
I have 0 experience with Diablo 2 so complete noobs are welcome
You wanna socialise? Cool! You don't give a shit about socialising and just want humans partners? Equally cool. I'm shy as Hell so I'm split on it anyway

Anyone whose down lemme know - maybe drop a message saying whether you wanna use discord, a message board on here, or something else to make contact a little easier and I'll get it sorted

If you are really not experienced in Diablo 2, despite you played the rest of Diablos there are really fundamental aspects you better learn before playing with others because it can make your experience boring.

It's not rocket science, as you play you will learn it but I imagine as you play together with people it's hard to have a time just thinking about the game properly to decide the best build for your character. This is also about levelling up your character, but mostly about how the upgration system for your gear works. This will go well if the other person cares to teach you.

If you played Path of Exile then you are somewhat actually experienced in Diablo 2 as fundamental logic is same. At least you may wanna learn about these before playing the game. If the game were like the rest of Diablos I wouldn't write such a message for how mindless action orianted isometric hack and slash games they are, not that Diablo 2 is particularly deep pe se. It's not deep as Path of Exile at all for example. I would just wish you "have fun" instead. I would wanna join if I didn't get bored of the game due to overly playing it for years though lol.

However if you didn't play Path of Exile but you weren't that interested in Diablo 2 and didn't have much fun, you may actually enjoy Path of Exile.

Thanks man, I appreciate the info and I'll keep it in mind, but I'm not too worried. I read a bunch about Diablo 2 and a lot about the "cookie-cutter" builds and what does and does not work. I'm probs gonna go for something super basic like Thrower Barb or any variant of Sorc. The only other Diablo game I played was 3 and I only got it because I'd heard tale of Diablo 2 and was excited to try it out but, even as a 10y/o that had just spent the past 3 weeks excitedly awaiting his pre-order to arrive, I knew it was one of the worst games I'd ever play (and so I have stripped it from my mind when entering Diablo 2)

If you change your mind about joining, your knowledge and experience would be of great value to the cause!

Throw barb is fun but it relies on certain unique items to be decent
Whirlwind, Berserk or Frenzy would be stronger options
Sorceress & Paladin are also good to start with

I'm a big fan of concentration barbs, you never realize how amazing being immune to getting your attacks interrupted is until you play one.

Although, as an outsider, I must ask: What's the appeal of Diablo 2?

On a game design level; there's a lot of possible builds within the predefined classes that are a lot of fun with some great skill ideas, and mixing and matching specific item builds on top of that makes for a very open system with a lot of variations. Also, multiplayer.
On a pure primal gaming level; it's the 'best click shit until they die' dopamine game.

Oh man, I sank so many hours into the game in my teens and early-to-mid 20s that I don't think I can ever look at it without groaning anymore lol. I've been trying to get back into it with the MedianXL mod and it's pretty nifty (it has its own server so no messing around with hamachi or game files) but it's kinda boring playing on my own. If you guys ever decide to try it out I'd be in but don't feel like I'm trying to twist your arms into doing so.

Have fun with it yo and watch out for Duriel.
