Devil Summoner english patch "released"

ouch, it's a shame they couldn't finish the translation, there's another team working on the spanish translation as well so I still have my hopes up that at least one of the translations will be fully completed.

This is bittersweet. I want what they've done so far but it's sad news if the lead translator has left. I hope the Saturn Soul Hackers translation is still coming along okay.

meh, avoid this, it's a partial translation which means incomplete translation and more bugs, better wait for the Spanish translation which is already finished but will be released until the beta testing and proofreading gets finished

that's why I refuse to play Front Mission 2 because the English patch is incomplete and buggy

How much of the translation was done before the lead translator ghosted everyone?

a friend confirmed me that with this patch is impossible to finish the game

so nope, just don't upload this to The Repo

I can attest, being that my version of SMT 1 won’t let me buy a firearm
I suggest you play the one with the bugfixes (and automap shortcut). If it's not on the repo I'll add, but it's a side effect of iffy testing.

Edit: Yeah, you want this Shin Megami Tensei 1 (English Addendum 1.0)[Automap].zip

I appreciate you telling me this.

Totally, I'm also waiting for that patch to release. One of the few advantages of knowing spanish is being able to play the very few games that somehow released either exclusively in the language or only get translations for it.

Unpopular opinion due to the overall dislike of AI, but I'd be glad for standard AI/ML translations for everything that's untranslated at this point. Like yeah, the nuance and charm just won't be there, but to me, it's better than not being able to play those games at all.

There are teenagers wasting an ocean's worth of water generating NSFW anime images of their favorite characters for a passing thrill every single day, so I don't feel bad hoping for a lake's worth of water to be used on something that'll potentially benefit a bunch of people via machine translations.

I agree. MTL can always be refined later by willing individuals, and it is a more legitimate use of AI than almost all other use cases.

wait the segagaga is incomplete?
ai / machine learning translation on the segagaga. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but like, it's probably the best chance any english speaker has to play it. There was some big drama over it, where everyone thought it was a normal translation, and got very upset to learn that the machine did it, possibly losing a lot of the nuance in the process or getting things wrong, bad context, etc.

This whole thing was a shitshow, I'd say it's everyone's fault. CJ Iwakura's fault for leaking the unfinished patch online, and those twitter users for thinking it was a complete translation

It’s complete, but with Machine Translation. Not only did the translators never say anything about that until release day, but it’s been reported that it doesn’t pick up on references and makes it seem pretty dry.

Personally I would love to see it posted here just to see it a bit and check if its as good as some said.

And if it is then maybe it will be worth waiting for a fixed version. Not everyone knows spanish so that version won't be for all.

wow... i hope someone takes action rather than it forever keeping people from translating it proper... out of all the games they could've done it to, its one that relies on references.

I'd still give it a play, and if someone translates it later i would play it again
