I Feel It could go either way but with folks in rapid succession shaking of the google yolk and understanding the need for independent websites and social media i see at least an uphill battle the internet may be dying but there are plenty of talented doctors here to help

It reflects the dead world we live in. There is no empathy and no morals. The world's withering away just like the internet which we created in our Worlds image.

I've been thinking about this for quite a few months now, and found out more about it. The dead internet theory isn't just about bots flooding the internet, but also stuff such as Google being a potemkin village where you would think there's billions of results of the thing you were searching for only to end up with hundreds of results or even thousands of results if you're lucky. Most of all the thing that sticks out to me about the dead internet is link rot, where links to websites just die out or get moved to elsewhere. I remember reading an article about link rot in which it states that 66.5% are dead ends. With AI being added to the mix I've ended being pessimistic about the future of the internet. Well what you all think about the future of the internet?

The internet is what we make it, regardless of attempts to control or corral. Things will never go back to the way they once were, but as long as people remember and love how things used to be, the essence of what people love about the internet will live on elsewhere.

Also, every day, week, month, and year… more people reach maturity who have been internet dwellers since birth. They care about its well being perhaps more than anybody else, and are young and dumb enough to commit their entire lives to rescuing dead links and dead sites from the jaws of rot whenever possible.

Google will get worse, but since when did true internet dwellers care about what Google thinks?

It's real. Just spend any amount of time on social media.
Heck we have at least one Roblox promoting spam bots on this form.

It just more difficult for these automated services to infect forums & imageboards who are either curated by attentive moderators (Like RGT) or who's content is perpetuated by user engagement (4chan) where bot content is rapidly filtered out and replaced by threads which are responded too.
So the automated services give up and go back to spamming on Facebook, X, Bluesky, Instagram etc
