Are you a data hoarder?

Yes, there are tiers to this. No, I'm nowhere near the most extreme.

It started for me with Youtube. Channels I watched or listened to stuff from would just disappear, or videos would get delisted. So? I started to compulsively save ones I liked. DVD ripping after, since backups were a practical and pragmatic thing to do. Tabletop gaming books following that. Then music. Funnily enough, I've never done a ton of it with games and just tend to download stuff in the moment.

Recently, given the fact memory could skyrocket, I invested in some additional drives. Not only for redundancy, but to massively expand my own little offline archive. And given the future we're all being dragged kicking and screaming towards (looking at AI, Sony and world governments to name a few), having a ton of stuff at arms reach seems like a smart move.

Closest to data hoarding I do, is that I like to hoard books and light novels, I make do with digital ones if the physicals are either out of print, or way above my purchasing power.

Some people say that I am the same as my grandfather in that aspect, just with the addition of a digital library.

To be fair....
I don't hoard everything... I just "collect" anime, video games, music, movies, and TV shows.....

Okay, I might be a data hoarder...

*Edit
In all honesty... I saw the move to digital only, you won't own anything physical when it comes to media ages ago, around the time the internet got good enough to give satellite and other such services a run for their money. But I've been "legally acquiring" media for a lot longer than that.

they have to make memory more expensive
its the only way to control us!
its already begun to skyrocket noticeably

Here are my 29 SD cards full of mildly interesting stuff I have fished from the high seas... xD

Not as much as I used to, especially due to the storage crisis of the past year. But I have a lot of movies/shows, most of my GOG setup files, ROMs, a bunch of MP3s from years ago, some Youtube videos...

I did, until i realized that it was pointless for me if the things in question didn't really interest me, then I would never use them and would sit there until the drive died. Now I try to hand pick everything through more filters, so only the things that I do care get in the rather limited storage that I have now.

I could certainly start doing that again with more obscure media now that I'm searching for more japaneses things.
