I used to think that devs were crazy for letting you drive from the first person perspective when all it accomplished was to make you feel cramped and claustrophobic when gaming — it really did feel nauseating to me, and I always wondered what the point even was (outside of showing off the dashboard graphics, that is).

But I have truly come around lately, and now I find myself using this camera almost exclusively when driving in any game that allows it, from GTA to Test Drive Unlimited. It makes my driving and racing experiences all the better.

Maybe it's because graphics have become so good since my first (ill-fated) experiences with this camera that they now just work as intended, providing you with a nice view of the road in front of you (as opposed to the blurry, speedy, pixelated mess of old) or maybe it's because I have since become driver myself and I appreciate the extra realism to my gaming, but it's been one of my wildest rides yet.

How do you feel about it?

Same here, when i was younger i would not use the frontal view of cars & planes because i thought it was hard to have spacial awareness, but i guess i came around it thanks to the 2017 Star Wars Battlefront 2 game, as in the star-ship modes i started to prefer using the cabin view where you can see the inside of the ship as it gave me some sort of immersion & i also noticed my flying became a lot better lmao, so i started using it on car driving games aswell.

I've always avoided the first person perspective in vehicles for a similar reason, regardless of how old or new a video game was, though that's probably because I'm not much of a driver.
That being said, are there any video games out there, where you can practice your driving skills in a big traffic-jam-packed city? GTA doesn't really count because traffic jams are simplified there, and there's always parking spaces available ::sailor-embarrassed

Try Test Drive Unlimited.

The city has dense traffic and good, realistic handling.
