So, what are you thoughts on both shows? Are you guys watching the Disney+ sequel?

I personally love the Netflix original series, even though Season 2 was kinda hit and miss, S3 ended up being too good just to be cancelled when Marvel's deal with Netflix ended.

The new show's production was actually... a shit show: they begun filming as a soft reboot, then some angel inside the production noticed that wouldn't work, so they hired new people to patch everything up to tie in with the Netflix show. This made S1 of 'Born Again' kinda all over the place.

Lucky for us, S2 fixed a lot of mistakes made in S1, but focused way more on Mayor Fisk rather than on Matt and Karen, which were characters that people loved the most.

it's enjoyable, i kinda wish they made the plot move more smoothly, lots of time nothing really happens, and sometimes too many things happen (at once)
all the actors are amazing in it, no one will EVER play a better wilson Fisk (kingpin) he was spot-on in the role all the time!

the problem is that its lacking in action and i bet Vincent D'Onofrio is probably bored to tears since they don't give him very much to do , i also heard they lost a lot of viewers around halfway through the season. not watched the finale yet but i read a few things about it and it sounds like a big change for the future which hopefuly is exciting.

What about the 2003 film? That earlier adaptation of the character was famed for bombing in its theatrical release, but wound up garnering a cult following on home video thanks to a director's cut that restored numerous cut scenes (and is, bafflingly, unavailable to watch on Disney Plus, ditto for the rest of 20th Century's films with alternate cuts).

Plus, maybe it's because he reprised his role for the MTV series, but when reading OG Ultimate Spider-Man, I can't help but read Kingpin's lines in Michael Clarke Duncan's voice, even if Vincent D'onofrio is whom most people associate with the character thanks to the Netflix series and Born Again.

Ah, that's a totally different adaptation. I actually watched it for the FIRST TIME last weekend, right after Born Again S2 finale.

Didn't like it at all. They relegated Kingpin to a final boss role that's totally unrelated to the main story, which... doesn't really exist? Besides, Daredevil kills a person in like 20 minutes of the film, proving the director didn't know the character.

Affleck can't play funny characters so every time he slightly smiles feels weird.
I love Elektra though. Jennifer Garner is such a gorgeous woman, even to this day.

Um... The movie is based on the Frank Miller run with the character and the Kingpin's scenes were mostly cut out of the theatrical cut (which is definitely what you watched).

And... Did you even read the Daredevil comic books? I haven't, but I can tell that judging by how many shifts in tone the character took (Stan Lee created him as a campy hero, but other runs had him as a vigilante who just so happened to be costumed) that him killing isn't exactly that surprising since the film is trying to be like a specific era. Batman and Superman killing? Yeah. That's misunderstanding the character. Daredevil? A character who has shifted back-and-forth between tones and directions? Don't be surprised that an iteration would get their hands dirty.

I find it hilarious as they put vincent d'ofrino(sorry cant spell well) Fisk in the series "Hawkeye" and cliffhanged that we considered not alive anymore only to revive him for the new series....Marvel terrible continuity i suppose.

His morals are basically batman's but catholic. Even the new TV show makes a big deal when he throws Bullseye off the building in the first episode. The movie make it seems like killing the guy by throwing him at the train tracks was just another tuesday.

I enjoy the aesthetic of the movie since I'm a 1990's kid and when it was released I was like 10 or 11yo, but nothing on it makes sense: the lawyer part of the movie is forgettable, Karen barely has two lines in the entire movie and even Kingpin has like 3 scenes.

They really focused on Bullseye but didn't deliver much. The suit at least is great.

=======================

As for the current show, I really enjoy all the original cast. I HATE what they done to Foggy, but I think they're planning something for Born Again S3, specially if they follow the plot of the comics in which this new arc will be based on ('The Devil in Cell-Block D').

Pardon me, but... I'm pretty sure that when Stan Lee wrote for the character, that the "Batman but catholic" morals weren't there.

Welp, this is pretty much the lore he is known for for decades
Anyways, what I meant is regarding his choice of avoid killing people at all costs, which contrasts a lot with his behavior at start of the movie.

It is like if in the next Batman movie he did the same and people are well aware he doesn't kill (or at least tries to not do so).

Love both shows about the same, but Born Again has so much better pacing. The only Netflix Marvel shows I dislike are Ironfist and Jessica Jones. More so and especially the former. The Defenders is awesome, and hope they do a sequel set up for that one.

I never watched Defenders, I actually watched S3 of Netflix's Daredevil without understanding what has happened to Elektra, lol

Um... About that. Batman DID kill in Batman v. Superman. And yes, it went down about as well as you'd expect (which is to say, it immediately became the biggest cinematic punchline of 2016 and only did well with Snyderbros, made even worse by how he was modelled after an iteration of the character who was still in line with his past morals down to telling people that guns are the tools of cowards). And Batman as a character is a man who shifted in tone and direction overtime, as in the original Detective Comics, he did carry guns, but characterisation marched on as he went through different writers and ages.

Daredevil? Daredevil didn't change overtime; he had a buttload of insane moodshifts and direction changes from the 1960s to now, so him killing in an action sequence shouldn't at all be surprising, even if it's something that his friend/rival Frank/The Punisher would do rather than Matt himself. Put it this way: in the 1960s, Daredevil worked with other supes like Spider-Man and battled supervillains like Electro, Doctor Doom and a Joker rip-off. In the tail end of the bronze age, he was being captured to serve as a pitfighter, fighting street-level villains like Mauler and Gladiator alongside the odd supervillain on select occasions, and dealing with his own personal baggage in the form of Elektra Natchios. The costume might be the same, but the directions change heavily.

I have to get back in to this, I am way behind lol. I watched the first season and I thought it was pretty good. I don’t remember what happened, I may have had my Netflix subscription run out at the time and then I forgot all about it.

Daredevil was never one of my favorite characters but I still think he’s cool and the actor does a great job.
