Whenever you think about the highest grossing films of the 1990s you will probably think of Titanic, Star Wars the Phantom Menace, Forest Grump, and the Lion King.
All iconic films and then the 4th highest grossing film, Independence Day featuring Will smith and directed by Roland Emmerich, the same dude who also made 2012, The Day after Tomorrow, and more films you probably never heard of because Independence Day is his highest grossing film ever. Independence Day isn’t remembered much nowadays, heck this is probably the first time you ever heard of this film, it hasn’t kept its iconic title as well as other films from the same decade, and also has some major passing problems, 2 hours and the best and most iconic scene is like in the first 20 or 30 minutes, anything after isn’t really remembered, but enough of this, let’s get to the plot.
The plot:
The story of Independence Day begins on July second at the Apollo 11 landing site, where the mothership is making its way towards the Earth which alerts the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute in SETI New Mexico
and soon after the White House, Pentagon, and president (Played by Bill Pullman) are alerted, then the news and people are alerted, meanwhile in New York City, we are introduced to David Levinson (Played by Jeff Goldblum), and later discovers the aliens are sending signals while everyone is panicking about what on earth is going on, also a small detail I noticed is that they can just look up to see the ufos, the movie says they can’t see them because they are hiding behind the moon but no,in this shoot from the film you can see they aren’t hiding behind the moon, I understand it’s to drive up the suspension but they did a bad job at doing that anyways back to the review. We meet even more of all cast with people I don’t remember the name of so I’m just gonna name the one person from this scene that actually matters, Russell Casse (played by Randy Quaid) he’s a drunk pilot, that’s it, had enough of meeting new people? TOO BAD ITS TIME TO MEET WILL SMITH BABY!!!!! (I forgot who he played but to be honest do you even care if I remember or not?). His character in this film he is in the military and he dreams of becoming a astronaut (that’s why his locker has NASA and space pictures), he’s also married to girl, I forgot who her name is and I don’t know who plays him and I don’t care moving on. The first ufo makes it to Moscow, and now Moscow is in panic, and now two are heading towards NYC and Washington D.C., how lovely, I hope their plan isn’t to blow up the cities, that would suck wouldn’t it, now there are pilots flying in the air calling the president reporting no viability,they instantly die, David who I’m just gonna call nerd guy because I forgot his name and had to look back to find out what his name was does some research and finds out the Ailen signals is actually a countdown to something, perhaps they bringing Elvis back to life, idk, also nerd guy is the only guy doing his job while everyone else is to busy panicking, like dude, they are being paid to research the Ailen signals , ITS THEIR JOB!!And nerdy McBob is the only guy doing his dang job and everyone thinks he’s crazy for doing his job, so instead of doing their jobs they decide to evacuate the city and quit their jobs I have said job eight times so far, guess who’s coming to LA baby!!!!!! That’s right dudes, it’s the aliens baby’s!!!! And their here for something I guess, and Drunk pilot dude has ptsd,I’m starting to think he was actually drunk on set and they just decided to go with it since half the budget went to something, I forgot what but watching some more might remind me where all the sweet money went, the aliens visit president guy
and also take a bite out of the big apple
they also visit London, Paris, Rome and Vatican City, Germany, Bombay, and Chicago. Drunk pilot dude claims aliens abducted him and did experiments on him finding out humanity’s weaknesses, yeah he’s very drunk, just ignore, also remember those other people I forgot and didn’t consider important earlier before I introduced Drunk dude? Know they important now, they are Drunk dudes kids, well they are technically teenagers but I don’t care I’m calling them kids cause it’s shorter, and before we move on it’s time that I bring up Will Smiths kid and dog too, I think the kids name was JJ and the dog was named Boomer.
