The famous GOTY 2020 is as empty and superficial as its open world. At no point did I feel like I was in an organic city because the game has no SOUL.
They completely misunderstood the cyberpunk universe. It's a mishmash of factions and far-fetched designs that bring no consistency or harmony to the game's aesthetic. Everything is so caricatured that it becomes ridiculous and completely unbelievable, which ruins the immersion.

Even the themes and subjects addressed are obvious: blah blah blah, corporations want to get money/have control and technology is bad because it can be diverted from its original use and serve as a weapon for the rich. WOW, as if we'd never read that before, this game is REVOLUTIONARY (no). Cyberpunk 2077 takes no risks, is not subversive, and focuses entirely on photorealism and cinematics. At the same time, how could it rebel against its masters who invested in the game and forced it to be released even though it was unfinished and still buggy? All this game has managed to do is echo a social engineer in our society who shapes public opinion by creating illusions of choice or debate without really touching on the crucial issue. Speaking of choices, this game probably offers more aesthetic choices and side ubisoft content than meaningful choices in dialogues JFL

The irony of this game is that it highlights a dystopian society with ubiquitous advertising, while CDProjekt themselves based their entire promotion of the game around Keanu Reeves on all social media platforms. The normies all fell for it because they love to idolize celebrities.

In contrast, Deus Ex is a sophisticated story, rich in themes and beautifully written. You really see the true divide between the working class and the rich. You see all the mass riots and social instability. You also have theories about society and major global issues which still resonates today with our world, such as the project behind the European Union:

NPC interactions in Deus Ex can also unlock different dialogue options or paths if you’ve upgraded certain augmentations (cybernetics), etc.

There is literally no reason to play this crap instead of Deus Ex. Even the music is better compared to cyberslop; it just sounds like a generic darksynthwave music on YouTube :

Never liked it either, so I’d agree.

So what you're telling me is that a game about a soulless cyberpunk dystopia is soulless, cyberpunk and dystopian.
anime hmmm.jpg

I haven't played it so I can't pass judgement but you make it sound like they unintentionally and ironically nailed it. ::eggmanlaugh

I haven't played it, but I heard that the Switch 2 version is more empty than the PS5 one.

Now please tell us about the invisible war, human revolution and mankind divided...

Not even the devs of Deus Ex could get Deus Ex right a second time, so I'd say it's a pretty unreal standard to hold any games against.

What I'd definitely consider to be Cyberpunk 2077's sin, however, is the fact that it was allowed to be released in a glorified beta state (or so they say -- I don't really have a PC to play it on). That's an insult for everyone on both sides of the counter, a deep undermining of the talents of its dev team, and, yes, also fraud for everyone who bought it expecting a working product, something they are entitled to by consumer law far and wide.

How are you gonna talk shit about normies when you're not even gonna bring up Cyberpunk 2020 and instead post clips of Deus Ex. Though I will agree the radio stations are mostly dogshit and the only cool faction you end up blowing through all of them in the first area and the gunplay is really awful. It's a double edged sword really whenever you feel like bitching and moaning about all of the games problems just think about a realm where it wasn't made by CDRed, like as much as I complain about 2077 feeling really watered down as a setting at the very fucking least they still continued to support the game and released a fairly sizeable DLC. Yeah they definitely could've done better but going "boohoo normies" doesn't solve anything especially when the only game you're gonna compare it too is Deus Ex which while being a good game shares some of the same problems Cyberpunk has like god awful gunplay and your character being a glorified murder hobo albeit way funnier in Deus Ex.

Cyberpunk 2077 is…fake?

I played the game with the Exotics mods (my V remained a human male though, as Deus intended) and finally got to romance a fluffy wet dream cat girl all of my own, which instantly elevated it over all other GTA clones I ever played (even despite the shit ending no matter which route you take). Any argument against that is both null and void.

eh, your unworthy of play game is one of my favs, deus ex never really caught me but i guess i could always try that out too

Calm down, homie.

Deus Ex is a good game. A good game where you play a highly trained, cybernetically enhanced government agent who, for some reason, can barely hold a gun without blowing his own foot off at the start of the game.

I agree that Night City doesn’t feel like a living, breathing place. For something billed as a role-playing game, there ain't much roleplay. Everything that can be done is a dot on the map, but aesthetically it an absolute joy to explore. The place is utterly dripping with detail.

Where the game does shine, though, is the combat. I’ve played it twice, and on my second run I went with a sword/throwing knife build. The things you can pull off are wild. Honestly, I think the combat system deserves even more praise than it gets.

Also, I don’t think it’s fair to claim a game with a futa option and a dong slider isn’t taking risks. And, maybe this part is a bit subjective, but calling Dues Ex's story rich and sophisticated is itself a bit rich.

Honestly, saying there's no reason to play Cyberpunk over Dues Ex is just silly. There are a lot of reasons. For instance having already played Deus Ex. Thankfully, I live in a world where I can play both.

P.S. Cyberpunk has a Tomb Mold song on the soundtrack so I'll give it extra points for that alone.

Eh, were you truly expecting a modern AAA game to be deep and subversive and take risks? Honestly I was even surprised that they got away with some of the stuff that is in the game considering how things are nowadays.

I thought the story was good, but my favorite gang was excluded.
