Hi guys, recently I was thinking about reviving my small Youtube channel but I really feel like I'm disconnected with what people watch nowadays and how they consume this kind of media.

I use to do game reviews that were 10 to 20-minute long, but not even I can stop and watch a video this long, unless I'm doing something in parallel like working on a second monitor.

My most popular videos (and with 'popular' I mean 10k views at best) are collections of small reviews of all games from a specific genre on an specific console, like "All Mega Drive Racing Games", which are evergreen videos because there are always someone who's after this kind of content.

Should I stick to this genre of videos or should I go back to single game reviews and just make them shorter (like 5~8min long)?

I was even thinking about removing all the bloat and just transform my videos into shorts/reels, since it's how people are consuming media these days.

Also, I've always used Adobe Premiere to edit, but I think I'm using a bazooka to kill an ant here, since I never do complex edits besides transitions and some image composition. Is there a software (on windows) that I can use to edit videos in a more straightfoward way?

Thanks guys, every opinion is appreciated.

Knowing myself and being just a viewer I can't give you any advice on which format to stick to but what I'll say is do what you know and feel is within the scope of your time and effort as well as which one that you know for sure that you'd accomplish the most on. ::winkfelix

I'd love to see your reviews!::thumbsupwario

Yeah, I usually don't have much time and specially during summer where is like 36ºC where I live it's kinda inviable to stay on pc for more than the 8 hours a day I do for my actual job.

I didn't post any video as an exemple because they're in portuguese and I don't know how good are the automatic subtitles, but here is the one I mentioned earlier:

I think you should focus more on what you actually like to do, but here's some tips. If you wanted to grow your channel, you could try uploading both long form and shorts version of the same video to get more engagement. I've tried it and I did get much more views for videos in shorts form (if the algorithm helps that is)

Ótimo trabalho!
Having watched the whole video, for a compilation of reviews. I'd say you did a great job. I learned a lot about the state of gaming in Brazil at the time and some facts about Ayrton Senna. Many of the games you reviewed are new to me too. Though the Auto-translation is good and I understood the whole video, I still have to ask you of how you feel about it from this screenshot cuz' maybe it's far off or not. And do put the titles of the games in the timestamps. I'm sorry if I'm not much of a help.

Overall Great Vid. Keep it up and Best of Luck! ::winkfelix

Thanks for taking your time to watch and commenting! It really means a lot to me when people gets interested in this stuff.

I'm not sure what you want to know about this specific part of the video, since I've checked the english translation and it's 1:1 to what I said in portuguese: something in the lines of "many people grew up with the Genesis, be it if you are on your forties or if you inherited your older brother's console".

(as a matter of curiosity, I did NOT have a Genesis when I was a kid. Got my first console in 1995 and it was a brand new SNES. My parents gave it too me as a present since I was in the hospital for 2 weeks after a minor car accident)

It's ok man, I meant the translation as a whole, glad to know that it's accurate! ::winkfelix

Well, these days people say that its all about short form content and it gets views for sure, but the same can be said about 1 hr+ long essays. There are a lot of people who still appreciate a more analytical, meticulous approach. So I guess it all depends on what you personally want to do.
