Who else was there for that whole transition and what did you think about it?

I personally enjoy the new graphics, but also I'm sure this probably made it so that less people are able to play unless their PC can handle it, now that the base graphics settings are heightened.

I prefer counter strike 2 tbh

Take my opinion with a pinch of salt, I played counter strike a little but I'm way more of a spectator. The smoke effects in CS2 are legit fantastic. Things like that are really good. It's a really neat game. But the physics were (and still are to some degree), a little borked and that hurt the game's launch. It was a bad transition

I respect CS2 as the logical better pick but I personally like CS:GO more. I actually would have preferred CS:GO still be readily available but with a thinned player base due to the launch of CS2 but I understand valve didn't want to compete with themselves

I am excited about cs2 and what kind of maps people will make in source 2, people pushed source engine to the limit in csgo, like those huge maps which had to be built in segments.
Unfortunately some people are alienated because of the hardware requirements but it never stopped most determined players, even in csgo i remember this one kid who was 15 or 16 and played on top level while his game was running around 30 fps on the lowest settings.

the game itself was fun but when cs2 came out it degraded in two aspects
1. the matchmaking got a lot worse somehow and it was already pretty bad in csgo. i waited for a few months for it to balance out and it was still terrible
2. short ranked matches. this helped a lot with the terrible csgo matchmaking if you got a braindead team the match would be done in 10 minutes.

im waiting for them to fix the game.

I like CS2, it is a really good improvement even tho it wasnt the best "implementation" of the game:

- Bugs that didnt happen in CS:GO
- Lack of archivements
- Lack of features and modes that were a thing in GO but are still nowhere to be seen on CS2

I'd be tempted to say 1.6 hehe.

I actually like the beta version of cs2
The graphics were better (literally on the mirage)
I don't know after they released it it's just like CSGO but worse in every way

Or maybe I'm just biased since I wasted my life on csgo

I haven't played any of those. I knew Counter-Strike Source and Counter-Strike 1.6, and for me CS Source will always be the best. It's also the last one I played.
