Ok so before the obvious 'Crunchyroll bad' I wanted to kind of roll a poll on what would you prefer or which one would you trust more (regardless of your feelings against awards ceremonies, they will just still exist):
The Crunchyroll awards: a more cropo award with some kind of popular poll that in the end just get curated by judges (right now, iirc is like 70% judges and 30% popular vote). The votes themselves are more controller since you need an account of a more tightly corporation system.
RGT anime Awards: a fore free form award where everyone can create an account, verify its mail, and vote. A simple system which just each vote goes directly to the anime and the ones with the most votes wins
At simple looks many will just go for the RGT Anime awards since it is less controlled, but I want to put this in this different perspective: Since it is more controlled, Crunchyroll can avoid brigading by streamers or just normies that watch half an anime vote for the popular one because someone made a viral post online. On the other side, a more controlled 'award' can twist what was actually popular and what the people that watch anime actually liked in favor of what the companies or the critics think is more appropriated.
PS: I know, many of you 'dont care about awards', but this is more of an exercise of 'What would do you do if you didnt have breakfast this morning'.
