I was playing a little bit on my psp this morning on school then i start to want to play Metroid Zero Mission on the GBA emulator, so i was about to play it, but my save file just stop existing along side my savestates, on top of this cherry cake all my other save files and savestates of all my gba games got deleted for some reason.
But it did not stop there because the snes emu also got the same problem.
What broke me is the fact that i spend a lot of hours in castlevania aria of sorrow, one of my favorite games in life, collecting all the souls to get the caos ring and on dragon ball advence adventure.
How can i prevent this from happening ever again?(also i use the memory card back-up setting on the gba emu)

Funny thing is that i screamed out in the class of pure rage because of this and my class mates didn't get because they are not gamers and don't knew the felling of losing your progress, plus i tried to explaim to a girl on my class about this by comparing the saves and a perfect homework you put everthing on it but it just dissapeared out of no were, and she didn't even listen just said that "you can't compare a homework to a game".

Well from what you said it seems the issue is entropy that making existence changes as time passes and therefore nothing stays the same, because of it storage devices's chance of being faulty increases as time passes. This is the shit happens in this existence yo.

What to do?: Can't rely on one thing as storage and backup. You gotta have backups of backups that you periodically change old ones with new ones. That's the way it's.

It may have a corruption that can be temporarily fixed via formatting it but if the issue is too physics all you can do is getting a new one for the physical damage may make the data loss more frequent.

This only ever happened to me with the PS-One memory cards. It didn't happen that often, but because of the few times it did, I always save in RPGs at every save spot, multiple saves at a time. So sometimes when i play an RPG, i'll have 3 copies of the same save file each time i save the game.

Try Backing up your save files manually. Don’t trust auto-backups alone. Copy .sav and .state files to a separate folder regularly. Exit games properly, don’t power off mid-session. Avoid switching ROMs or emulator settings while using save-states. Check your memory stick for corruption; fake or old ones can silently wipe data. Use in-game saves when possible, they’re more stable. Sync backups to cloud storage if you can. Protect your grind.

My 3DS SD card was starting to be on its last legs and I was able to backup almost everything. The SD card actually died as I was about to start the backup of my saves folder so I lost almost everything I had, at least I'm not someone that replays a lot of games and the console has the app that tells me how long I played a game. Seeing all those 90+ games on the list and knowing the saves were gone just made me feel worse.

I lost my Alundra save years ago to a corrupted block. I had to start all over again. And that block was permanently corrupted. I couldn't use it at all. I didn't try reformatting because I didn't want to lose my other saves. I had about the same rate of failure between first and third party cards. But only one corrupted block issue and that was with a Sony card.

We had a Rottweiler that ate anything like she was some kind of super goat. She got a hold of a PS1 memory card and completely destroyed the shell. But my brother took the PCB and still used it as a memory card. It still worked. But you had to keep tilting it to get it to connect. I remember using it a few times to save and I was afraid something would short out.
