Controller vs Mouse and keyboard

I don't have a controller now, but I've Always been a keyboard guy, even with fighting games and hack n' slash, I even use a thing called KeyboardSplitter to play games with no keyboard support like Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, though many games really do feel best with a controller.

Largely depends in the game. Fighting games or other games demanding high precision inputs such as a Soulslike or DMC absolutely require a controller IMO.

KB/M works best for genres that are normally associated with PC like FPS and RTS.
well actually I play dark souls 2 and 3 with keyboard and mouse and.....you know wasn't that bad. Yes you can't use animation fast for some boss or character have a chance to kick instead of attack with sword but even with a broken mouse which left and right hardly work I bear a lot of dark souls 2. But I suggest controllers because you can control better but keyboard is still working. I actually use keyboard as my main input and mouse was camera mover😅😁

Getting used to kb+m took me a while, but I really dig it. There's a sense of freedom to it. It can get very difficult to play games with complex mechanics though.
I grew up playing with controllers, so of course they will always be my go to, also I like the fact that no matter what controller/gamepad you use, you'll get used to it in no time.

I played fighting games with emulators and I actually suggest you learn move for you hands because keep same shape and use keyboard too long have a bad risk to hurt your hands. I suggest a baseball or something like that for protect your hands,

That's really cool to hear! I tried DS1 with KB/M briefly and it felt uncomfortable and imprecise ( for perspective I have no consoles these days, just a trusty Dual Shock 4 plugged to the PC).

I like controllers but because I use emulators a lot I more like to control my keys. I also make a unic keys for games on emulator for different games.

As quite a few people have already stated, it depends. I cannot imagine playing an FPS or an RTS with a controller. Unlike many of you I've been a keyboard+mouse guy pretty much exclusively in my formative years (with the only other option being an Amiga 500 joystick) so I can pretty much adapt any control scheme to a keyboard. Emulating PS2 and Wii with a keyboard is an adventure in and of itself. These days I use controllers fairly extensively but when I need precision I still switch to keyboard+mouse. One particular quirk of mine is that I am incapable of playing fighting games with anything other than a keyboard. I just can't for the life of me do even 2xqcf or hcf on a controller. Not that I've ever been any good at fighting games but if you don't let me play with a keyboard you might as well play against a toddler.

Wii and ps2 games are very great. I actually play wii more. This adventure you say could be very nice in resident evil dark chaldroin(this is second time I forget it's name today!) Because of shoting system. I actually didn't try that on my pc but I think with emulator changes this game become very nice with mouse and keyboard.

Oh my God. I also remember megaman Zero series on gba. How much it take to finish with VBA! I finish whole with a pentuim 3 and old none-usb keyboard! It was hard in parkoor part and I also get sick of last boss on megaman Zero 4!1 minute to defeat a cheater old man which hide and guard and have good resistance. I so done with him. I never sacrifice any of my fairy cyborg in any of them.

1) FPS and Point & Click- Mouse and KB. Occasionally i'll regress back to my Dreamcast mindset and use a controller for FPS especially when using emulators.

2) Racing, Shmups, RPG - Controller

I personally love the options available nowadays. In the old days of PC gaming controllers were junk. Nowadays we have great options.

Depends on the game:
  • KB&M: FPS, RTS, Point-and-Click Adventure
  • Steering wheel: Racing (don't own one, but can head to the barcade for it)
  • Gun: Shooter (again, better at the arcade)
  • Controller: everything else

Controller for me as I feel more playing better even though mouse is faster for FPS games. But sometimes as some games needs to be played by mouse and keyboard.
