As someone who grew up in an NTSC region, I've always felt like games were "supposed to" run at 60hz. However, for PAL exclusives, 50hz is the more accurate way to play because that's the speed at which it was intended to be run. For example, I played the game Soulless on Commodore 64 in NTSC mode. When I listened to the soundtrack online, the music was all slowed down. Since the game is European, it was intended to be experienced at 50hz and I was actually hearing the music sped up when I played it. Whoops.
What content would you say is "supposed to" run at 50hz? I count all PAL exclusives. I would also count the PAL version of multiregion games but usually I'm playing the NTSC-U version anyway if there is one. (Sometimes hacked NTSC-J if there's a reason that version is better) Since the Amiga CD32 never officially released in the USA, I wouldn't play any game on that platform at 60hz. What examples can you think of? Please share.
