Consoles/Handhelds, and the games that pushed them to their absolute limits?

Mega Man & Bass pushed the SNES/SFC graphically.
I understand friend but it had a trick because it reused the engine of Rockman 7/Mega Man 7 but modified (Which itself was from Rockman X/Mega Man X Obviously speaking) and that is reflected in the game system and the SFX but graphically it was completely based on Rockman 8/Mega Man 8 that had more detailed sprites that for some reason adapted well in that engine without slowing down so much but it was still impressive for a 1998 SFC/SNES game.
