What are some shows or movies that you keep around because you have some kind of emotional attachment to them?

Probably three of my favorites (movie wise) are George Romero's Knightriders (about a renaissance fair trope who joust via motorcycles who slowly get pulled apart as a family)

Bliss (about an advertising executive who loves telling stories who has a near death experience on his birthday and now believes himself to be in hell)

and finally, Orson Welles' Chimes At Midnight (a very loose retelling of Shakespeare's Henriad)

Each of these gave me comfort in some way

Never heard about this movies! Here are some movies who i try to rewatch from time to time, every one of them hold a precious moment, secret or adventure still present in my heart:

I still love to re-watch some animated series of my youth like The Tick, Daria, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Dexter Lab's, Carmen Sandiego, Digimon Adventure/02/Tamers and many more.

Another Frasier fan here...I can quote from every episode from the first 4 seasons alone

Every season of Slayers, but especially Try. This is because as a kid, I got my mom to buy me each VHS tape as it was released in America by ADV. I would check Sun Coast Video at the mall every time to see if a new one had come out...

Runners up...
  1. Beast Wars
  2. Monster Rancher
  3. The Big O
  4. Legend of Crystania / Lodoss Wars
  5. (Any ADV anime lol)
  6. Home Movies
  7. The Sound of Music
  8. Anastasia
  9. Valkyrie
  10. The Death of Stalin (watch this every time I visit home with my dad)

The first 10 seasons of The Simpsons is probably my biggest "Comfort food" show, and something I can watch at literally any time and enjoy myself. Any newer then season 10 and my interest starts to fade though.

On the Anime side of things, Samurai Champloo was one of the first anime's I *really* got into as a teen, and it always takes me back when I rewatch it now.

Can't believe I forgot to add the Simpsons! I'm the same way about the first few seasons. Those were the good ol days...Especially the first Christmas special lol. I had that on VHS as a kid and watched it a million times. Can probably act out the whole thing by memory ::sailor-embarrassed "I'm Bart Simpson, who the hell are you?"

These make me feel cozy:

While I like the first 10 season of the simpsons, from that set my most favorites are the first 4. I don't know how to describe it. Its like the jokes were more "inocent"? it has that family feeling and also they tried to give you some moral lessons at the end of some chapter, I liked that.

Jigoku Shoujo.

When it comes to movies, it's probably a safe pick but the original Star Wars trilogy is always something I can watch as a good comfort and relax sort of thing too.

I don't dislike the prequel movies either, but the originals are just timeless to me.

Sonic SatAM, X-Men The Animated Series, Rurouni Kenshin, Animorphs, Trigun, Stargate SG-1, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, BIg O, Farscape, Outlaw Star, Good Burger, A Goofy Movie, Shrek, Titan AE, Treasure Planet, Atlantis The Lost Empire, I like Shonen stuff and sci-fi stuff. :D

This Movie was something else man, i used to have very faint memories of watching it in 2007, however back in those days we didn't have much internet here in india. it wasnt until 2014 that i got to rewatch this movie properply

another one is fast and the furious the tokyo drift, the year was 2014 and i used to rewatch this near every day after coming home from classes, god i really wish 2014 could come back.

This might be slightly in a "so-bad-it's-good" sort of way..but SH Revelation 3D has kinda become that for me..
-and as a fan of Silent Hill; It sincerely made me angry on first watch how awful this was yet it's become something dumb I can throw on in the background whenever I want to turn my brain off for an hour or so and I've become weirdly endeared to it by this point <3

Bliss (about an advertising executive who loves telling stories who has a near death experience on his birthday and now believes himself to be in hell)
Wow interesting movies, especially Bliss that really looks like Jacob's Ladder that inspired Silent Hill series lol.

As for the topic of this thread, TBH "comfort movies" and having "emotional attachment" are different things as I have some comfort movies that I watch for comfort, to relax and be in peace; not for emotionality but physical feeling-wise, but I cannot imagine myself having emotional attachment to anything that doesn't even live lol.

That being said my favourite comfort movies:

Howl's Moving Castle

Ocean Waves

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Uncharted (I don't even like the games lol)

When I'm tired from too much work again and I need a distraction or I'm in a good mood and wanna relax I just watch one of these movies. However I prefer comfort tv-series and animes instead of movies for binge watch fun again. Especially 10th Doctor's Doctor Who episodes and Magic Kaito 1412 and Little Witch Academia lol.

TV Shows:
Mr. Bean
Mister Rogers Neighborhood
Monty Python and Flying Circus
Steptoe and Son
Hey Arnold
Family Matters
Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Films:
The Dollars Trilogy with Clint Eastwood
Casablanca
Godfather 1 and 2
A Goofy Movie
Enter the Dragon
Rush Hour Trilogy

etc..

If I'm just looking for some haha funnies comfort:

All 3 of them.
And if I want comfort comfort:
1752062866291.jpeg

Those are the main ones, have some other ones too but the main ones are these.

The NeverEnding Story -- it's the movie I used to watch over and over and over again when I was a toddler.

M*A*S*H -- one of my favorite shows, its just comfy for me to watch. It can make me want to laugh and make me want to cry.

Arrested Development -- another one of my favorite shows. Its not the kind of funny that makes you laugh your ass off, it's the kind of funny that just has you grinning the whole time. It's so rewatchable because its easy to notice things you missed before.

my comfort movies are jurassic park, die hard, rush hour 1 and 2, lego batman and dawn of the dead (the og) just to mention a few.
tv series i'd say macgyver (og), the a-team, sherlock holmes (the one with jeremy brett) and murder she wrote

I feel like this is something that I can go on and on with forever because I LOOOOOVE movies, especially action-adventure junk, but I narrowed it down to three because they're the most recent ones I've revisited:

I've gone on to rewatch Twin Peaks three times over because something about it reminds me of when the times I visited (and even lived in for half a year) Nova Scotia. It's a really dark and dreary and even scary series, but the more casual scenes with the kooky characters just feels like home away from home if that makes any sense. I saw a lot of people mention it already, but I think if you get hooked on it then you'll understand completely.

Also Back to the Future. Any of them. I've rewatched them endlessly and I believe that the original is the perfect adventure comedy. I don't even need to say anymore than that it's just perfection.

ALSO ALSO The Wizard (1989). Is it a goofy movie for kids that was made entirely to advertise NES games and Universal Studios? Yes. But it was something I rented endlessly as a small baby child in the 90s because I was poisoned with video games right out the gate and seeing a movie even remotely understand what a video game was cool. I even got the movie on blu-ray now and still love it. It's silly and fun and I love stories about a bunch of kids getting into an insane amount of trouble while outsmarting a bunch of adults who are too stupid to realize they're getting played.
