Let me pretense this with the fact that spoilers are going to be here, so if you don't want that, this is probably not the conversation to jump into.

But, as the question says, what are some gaming characters, or moments, that left a lasting impression on you? It's crazy to think that even in media, certain aspects of a character, NPC, or defining moment can be brought into the real world, even if only as passing thought.

For instance, I beat Red Dead Redemption 2 a couple years ago, I still play regularly for the free roam and to try and round off the last 9% I need for full completion.
But even when the game leaves my rotation, I find myself thinking about Arthur Morgan and his journey often. Like damn, I really am sitting here and mourning for a virtual person because their story was just that good.

Of course there are others, I'll leave a little image collage of characters who through some rhyme or reason, I find myself thinking about to this day, no matter how old they are. Do you have any characters or scenarios like this? Who and what left a permanent impression on you?

It's been about 3 years since I played back to back most of the Metal Gear series, and while I sucked at It as I'm horrible at stealth, the story stuck with me, but especially Solid Big Boss and Ocelot. The parallels between Big Boss and his clones, Ocelot's disturbing life and dedication to Big Boss, the rise of Ai or just how well MGS2 and MGS4 aged with their world building.

Armada Starscream: He represents what a soldier should be: someone who fights for the common good and not for someone else's order. in itself he is the perfect Decepticon.

I never truly invested myself into Transformers but I always like Starscream because he just has the coolest name ever.

Seconded on RDR2, that's probably my number one pick.

Second choice would probably be Lee from the first Telltale The Walking Dead game. The ending hit hard too. I feel like the game utilized the scenario of a man trying to help a young girl survive a zombie apocalypse to explore themes of parenthood to great effect.

That version is unique to the armada show. The main Starscream is a manipulator and a traitor who always wants to take the command of everything (one of the Best characters easily). But armada played with that idea and gave his betrayals a more noble reason.
And if you want to start with the franchise I recomend G1 or the Aligned Continuity ?

It's super minor, but I immediately thought about that guy in the Resident Evil 3 intro, the one who chooses to starve to death in there, because he has nothing left to live for after losing his daughter to the hordes. It's just so sad and poignant.

G1 Starscream always trying to usurp Megatron then getting his ass beat after his scheme fails made him the most hilarious, and my personal favorite, character from the original TV series. He had so many great moments.

Basically everything Handsome Jack does and says in Borderlands 2.

At the moment, the introductory sequence of Final Fantasy 6 for SNES (and GBA) comes to mind, when the three characters walk with their mobile suits in the storm towards the horizon (unforgettable mode-7 sequence), accompanied by the memorable Terra theme .

Yes, Lee was an awesome character, his whole scenario from start to finish was not ideal in any way but he did pave the way for Clem to become the survivor she needed to be.

Absolutely, just a normal guy whose life was torn apart in a single evening, before the big events even took place. Really just your average Joe but that makes him extremely relatable.

Bonkers you have a good number of scenes but this is one I can reply to easily. Cloud and his journey really is a messed up situation. Can't help but feel sorry for the guy, even after he deals with his trauma by Advent Children I still think he's gonna be struggling for years to come.

Wakka: "But, using machina... That's bad, isn't it?"

Seymour: "Pretend you didn't see them."

Wakka: "Beg your pardon, but that's not something a maester should say!"

Seymour: "Then pretend I didn't say it”

——————————————

Tidus: “I hate you!”

Jecht: “I know, I know”

sibling rivalry in devil may cry 3, it's just real, and there is that awesome gameplay moment at the end that just complements it so well, something you can't do in a movie or a book

Damn this is a good one. Seymour is truly a villain.

I don't remember them all but here i have some of them:

- (Phoenix wright ace attorney trials and tribulations): When Luke Atmey reveals his true identity.

- (Metal gear 3): The fight with The End and everything related to that character.

- (Final fantasy 8): For some reason i got very shock at Lunatic Pandora.

- (Bayonetta): Basically, any provocative and sexy pose that Bayonetta has during fights xD

Hell yeah, love the Lunatic Pandora, sometimes I listen to like an hour long extended version of the music for it just cause it's so good, lol.

As for Bayonetta, well you've already spoken the gospel truth.

I just loved everything about the Boss in MGS3 and what her character represented. Seeing Big Boss carry her ideals in the later games, even up to his eventual downfall, was great.
