I am a Resident Evil fan since the start, but I gotta be honest I hated RE 4. When I got the limited ed. for my Game Cube and played it I was beside myself, where was all the survival horror zombie stuff? Now it's just a run and gun.
It was a long time ago, but I don't think originally I made it out of the first village. I didn't know that you had to wait till a certain point ( this was way before the internet), so I tried killing everything. And I died over and and over. I said "F**K THIS!!" at least I got the cool chainsaw controller.

Then I recently bought the Resident Evil collection on Steam so I said "They remade RE4, why don't I give it a chance?"
After finishing it, I must say: THAT GAME KICKS ASS!!!! ::megadancebaby The remake completely blew me away. So I wonder (I think I can already guess)
what your feelings about or experiences with Resident Evil 4 are.

I loved RE4 when it came out even though my Dad grounded me for renting a very violent videogame without his consent.

Played it on Gamecube, PS2 and Wii.
One of my favorite videogames ever.

I loved RE4R when it came out. It's probably the best remake I've played; and I had high expectations. They made it scary, immersive and grounded but also lovable, charming and memorable in the RE way. Capcom are the master of refrying.

Still don't think it needed a remake but Capcom went ahead and did it anyway and I'm happy they did.

The OG RE4 is one of my favorite games ever made, easily in my top 10 at least. I enjoyed RE4R a great deal too, and was pleasantly surprised by it as I felt RE4 didn't really need a remake.

I still prefer the original overall, but both are great games.

I liked TPP camera but didn't like its position, didn't like the way you aim, didn't like you don't have a crosshair, didn't like how it is a TPP Call of Duty with zombie game skin, didn't like the village theme, I don't like Leon and I dislike Ashley and her "Leeeeeeoooooon" screams more, I dislike the story barely exists, I dislike how whole story progression is they kept kidnapping Ashley in front of Leon and he just watches while saying cringy stuff, didn't like how long the game is, didn't like QTEs.

What I liked? It was kinda immersive as "survival" game yet it failed to be a proper one. I would want Metal Gear Solid 3 style "wound-treatment system", needing to eat, shelter from cold so gotta make camp and assemble a tent and shit. I mean why the game take place in a fucking nowhere if it doesn't use the full potential of the theme? I really dislike it when a game could be decent but their lazy and stinky visionless ass don't use the whole potential of games. Good actually so someone else can develop a better game using a similar theme. The game could very well take place in a town and it would be more fitting for a Resident Evil game, but then Silent Hill fanbois would make fun of the game lol. There is no memorable location to go whatsoever so they didn't even care about level design. You just walk, stupid time-waster locations goes all around and around and you kill to kill. Perhaps what else to like is close combat mechanic and that's it. The game wasn't a significant game for me at all.

I also played Resident Evil 4 Remake. They directly used Leon model from RE2 Remake and didn't make any chance other than the oversized jacket that looks like his big bro gave it to him because Leon's mama is too poor to buy a new cloth for him ayy lmao. And his hair looks like how women looked like when I was a kid. They stretched the game too long to get to the point which I didn't like at all. And then I had a weird random mouse doesn't work problem so I deleted the game. I think since God Hand I didn't play a decent Crapcom game at all. My favoirute RE game is da original RE3 but other than that I like RE0, RE1 and RE Outbreak series and that's it. Rest of the series can suck my dick so as anyone works for Crapcom lol.

i actually went through the game earlier this year and i really liked most of the game up until right before we leave the castle

it was interesting seeing how this was "the first third person shooter" and what ideas got shelved/kept moving forward
i think if i was slightly younger i would not have fucked with any of the b movie energy or systems in place like standing still to shoot or the button prompts but im glad i can appreciate it for what it is and represents

however my only real issue is that it drags just a little too much but this was right before the game was actually over so the pacing is near perfect

most of this goes out the window for the remake though i did start it (and drop it) shortly after finishing the original so you can chalk it up to being burnt out or like ive had my fill of re4 for a while but one thing i know im not a fan of is adding more systems since it feels like they were starting to overcomplicate something perfectly tuned.

I'm the opposite, I love Bio4 and I hate the remake. It's another victim of this remake trend where they take many unique and distinct games and just making them play and look almost the same

Aside from replacing the amazing combat system with something generic and not as deep, I also hate how they changed almost everyone's personalities and the entire tone of the game, and the realistic artstyle

Also the change in movement system because every game needs to have movememt inertia now. Modern sensibilities are that games had the limitations they had because they didnt get it, they didnt see the light of standardized controls and twinstick aiming and passive gameplay with tons of obligatory walking and talking

They dont get that Leon cant move and aim For a Reason. Every time you stop in 4 you're making lots of meaningful choices every second:

Do I go for the risky headshot? Do I do the even riskier move of running in and do the QTE kick with the giant hitbox for crowd control? Do I use more ammo but risk hp by going for the chest or legs?

Since you cannot move every action has meaning because the risk is great. Your fov is narrow and ememies are made to surround you, so you must also listen for their distinct audio cues to figure out what they're gonna be doing even if you cant see them. At best you use the right stick to look at your sides, or do Quarter Turns if you get the timing right and can find a new place where to aim. This also compliments the horror aspect, because fights can get so tense this way.

Every enemy is distinct from one another and has heavily telegraphed attacks, so every time you stop you can plan what you're going to do by looking at what enemy types you have ahead of you, another thing to consider when you stop to aim. If theres a pitchfork guy maybe keep some distance if you dont think you can disarm him; or you can be ballsy and headshot an unarmed ganado right next to the chainsaw man to get the spinkick and clear the field. The game Rewards mastering your limitations and playing around them, it demands the player dies over and over until he or she Learns the Rules

Since the game forces you to pause the game and enter the inventory, you must make your shot count even more, because the game forces you to obscure your view every time you wanna switch weapon. So you gotta visualize what you were doing and what the playfield looked like before you press Exit after equipping the shotgun, and you must play around it, find out whats a good time to open it.

Remake makes the enemies super aggressive and hard to predict to compensate for the making it play like the last of us, the kick hitbox is Tiny compared to og. You're mostly expected to just parry and shoot, it reduces your options to just a couple approaches

And it has, so much downtime..so much pointless filler like the stealth section after Louis, go and raise the gate..go and do this..go and do boring chores..

The tone too, it went from being fun and campy to Serious. Why does leon act like a robot with a stick up its ass? Why cant he flirt with Hunnigan anymore? Why remove stupid stuff like calling ashley by whistling for her like a dog, or looking under her skirt, or the lava room or the gatling guy? Give me back the cheesy fun

Now I know you're bullshitting; the remake is more intense and it pushes to think much faster in the heat of the moment. And the knife can easily break if you abuse it. It also gives you more approaches to start the fight.

you are free to not like it, but your argument ain't it.
