Castlevania Thread.

I just can't get into the Igavania craze...
My favorites in no particular order are Bloodlines, Rondo and the 64 titles.

there is one thing i hate in castlevania 64 it's one word NITRO!

GBA, "Maria of Sorrow," a romhack of Aria of Sorrow.
Me crying because this website doesn't have the hack. ::sadkirby lol
Those are really good, mainly Curse of Darkness though.
Yes. The game satisfies my meme needs lol:

And any game is legendary if you can use a frying pan as a weapon and it's extra super legendary if the frying pan has eggs on it that never drops no matter what lolololol:

My favorite is a tie between Portrait of Ruin and Bloodlines, love the more varied creative setpieces and Portrait has easily the best extra content in the whole franchise IMO.

Iโ€™m rly forgiving with this series and donโ€™t rly have a game I HATE, only ones that come close are the OG The Adventure and Judgement, and Judgement is purely for the character designs rather than the gameplay itself lol

Castlevania 64-fans assemble !
Underrated Games .
I still think this is the true future of 3D-castlevania gaming .

But Bloodlines , SotN , Cas3:DC , CasA2 :Simons Revenge are Peak Games too.

I know Castlevania 64 gets a lot of guff. It's not a bad game honestly. I always cut both of them some slack because they were made in the early days of 3D games. Yes, I know "Italian stereotype 64" was out at this time, but not long enough to make Castelvania 64 as smooth as Mario 64.

Thank you ! Thats exactly what i thought too. It needs some refinements but its still very good what they made and the mechanics in the movement and combat has enough around it that is simple , direct and fast to use while it can be expanded upon it in later games .

If we talk about the actual concept which this game should actually be , that would be the truly next-gen castlevania experience . The cancled Dreamcast Game already looks very promising which took alot of elements and its gameplay from Cas64 into it too .

Going for God of war or Souls-like just doesnt fit castlevania overall and will end up another game thats nice to play but nothing to stand-out and great on its own . Cas64 has the foundation already . Even with Legacy of Darkness they fixed some of the issues and the combat is a bit smoother than in the original. With enough meat in its level-design and mechanics to underline the gameplay , it can be a Classic on its own .

Thats my view on it . ::thinking

Randomly played SOTN one day because I was bored and everyone said how great it was, ended up having a blast with the game and played many others.
SOTN and Portrait of Ruin were my favorites of the IGA style, and IV and Dracula X were for the classic style.

Let's talk about Castlevania games on PS2... I just learned about them a year ago lolol.
underrated, will admit they remove a lot of the platforming elements but the open castle concept and devil may cry like game play is solid.

I've adored Castlevania since I was pretty young. Started with Bloodlines and still love it to this day. My favorites, roughly in order from most to least...

Aria of Sorrow
Order of Ecclesia
Dawn of Sorrow
Symphony of the Night
Portrait of Ruin
Super Castlevania IV
Circle of the Moon
Bloodlines
Castlevania 64
Curse of Darkness
Rondo of Blood
Castlevania
Haunted Castle Revisited
Lament of Innocence

Only Castlevanias I've played that I just didn't like are Harmony of Dissonance, Dracula X, and Castlevania II. I've, shamefully, never gotten to play Castlevania III.

I personally believe that some franchises like Castlevania, Splatterhouse, Metal Slug and several other work much better in 2D but I would give a chance to the PS2 entries.

I knew of the existence of the saga but the first title I played was SotN at a cousins house and I was impressed, I only had the N64 and by accident in a place where they sold old games of that console I saw one of Castlevania and although I knew nothing of that title I bought it and it was what made me a fan of the saga.
Unfortunately Konami didn't give this IP and others the due appreciation and they left it in oblivion and even if they came back they wouldn't have the same magic they had in the 90's and 2000.
