I would love to see Sega do a Capcom Stadium and would happily pay for games. I doubt they will as they seem to be using old games to put on Yakuza titles. Annoys me how Sega and such moan about roms but won't make a legal way to play them.

They had a way of buying Genesis games individually on Steam for a while, before they yanked the cord to sell you a collection of them with VR tacked on.
Then they pulled that from sale, too. Probably to create another collection with less titles. Who knows.

General rule of thumb for Sega: If it makes sense, they won't do it.

I'm tired of the same 20 or so frickin' Mega Drive games packed in a new emulator and sold at every console generation, they've been doing that shit since the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era. Given the power of modern computers and consoles, I'd expect them to release a Saturn, or even a Dreamcast collection instead

It's not impossible. Sega is kinda changing their approach to their classic IPs. They are aware of Capcoms success with nostalgia. Virtua Fighter, Streets of Rage. Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe. All of these are coming back.

I'd love to see it. Sega's sitting on so much stuff I'd love to play again without needing a bunch of other consoles hooked up in order to do it, as well as stuff that never came home in the first place.

Just so you know, they removed their Mega Drive & Genesis Collection from Steam (Technically delisted it) and their CEO was in the talks about re-releasing plenty of their titles in a Netflix-style subscription service. Not only that but allegedly several other titles were delisted recently as well by them from different platforms. It's safe to say that whatever Sega has in mind is some terrible idea. I personally abhor subscription services and I cannot fathom the idea of not owning anything.
Their Steam collection featured a virtual dormitory with a console and 3D cartridges which could also be played with VR, full Workshop support for ROM hacking, etc. That was obviously all just too good for the current day so they took it away from us.
It wasn't enough that they had previously made it so you couldn't get every achievement by delisting all Sonic titles for it (except 3D Blast and Spinball?) so any new owners were screwed, all to promote that awful Sonic Origins compilation.

has there ever been a good collection of SEGA arcade titles? they had like 3 games on XBLA, but obviously that's not what we're talking about here. something like capcom stadium for SEGA arcade games would be sick (although i wouldn't mind ports with a little more effort put into them like XBLA Sonic the Fighters and Fighting Vipers)

SEGA released a very cool 3D collection of arcade games on the 3DS. The selection is limited but some games even got new modes/entries, like After Burner and Fantasy Zone. You can also play some Genesis games via Nintendo Online's subscription service on the Switch. And some of their later arcade games are playable through various Like a Dragon/Judgment games via the in-game arcade.

That would be an excellent idea! Then there would finally be a way to play Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder on a home console.

Sega is really weird when it comes to re releasing games. Especially Sonic. Those first 3 Sonic games are always getting re releases that are somehow worse than the last. I still think they are one of the better companies lately but man they can be quite rough. I'm mad about the Dreamcast and Genesis collections being delisted. At least me and my homie bought them up before they went away.

It would be a gold mine to say “Hey, here’s the ultimate SEGA arcade platform. We have games from Model 3, Naomi, Naomi 2, and later. We have all the classic titles you love from our arcade history. Every SEGA AM1 and AM2 game is here. And we will be adding more games with time.”

I would adore that.

i love all things sega, nyo, so i would probably buy it, nyoo!

Sega made the Astro City mini, which is a collection of arcade games that would be great as a Capcom arcade type collection for consoles.

Sega really need to do this!

Imagine Sega Arcade Stadium with:

Golden Axe, Altered beast, Star Jacker, Hang-On, Choplifter, Space Harrier, Outrun, After Burner, Alien Syndrome, Shinobi, Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force, Power Drift, Shadow Dancer, Super Monaco, Turbo Outrun, ESWAT, Alien Storm, G-LOC, Columns, Arabian Fight, Virtua Racing, Datona USA, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, Virtua On, Indy 500, Manx TT, Puyo Puyo and Dark Edge.

That would be collection #1. :)

If only. Sadly, most modern gamers don't appreciate SEGA's old games (hell, most modern gamers I know probably don't care about Capcom's arcade lineup except for Street Fighter 2).

Luckily, SEGA is starting to give notice to their old games. Streets of Rage 4, from what I heard, is great, and I pre-ordered (and am excited for) that new Shinobi game. Can't wait to see what they do with their other classic IPs.
