And I'm going to unlock my PS4, so why bother with a service when all the games are free these days?

When I was a kid, my family moved to a new town, and I recall crying at the end of the school year knowing I'd never see any of my friends again. My mother decided that since I was already upset, she might as well rip the band-aid off and told me I had a doctor's appointment and had to get a bunch of shots the next day lol.

This feels very similar, they're just loading up on all the bad news today. I'm going to be honest, I bought a game on PS3 last month and I was shocked the servers were still up at that point. This was a bit inevitable, but it still quite a bummer.

I will say though, jailbreaking your PS3 and Vitas has never been easier. Everyone is different, but I no longer have any reservations in doing so, now that Sony officially has no interest in supporting my hardware any longer.

Genuine question: does that mean taking my modded PS3 online would be less dangerous (I have heard that PSN liked to brick/ban modded consoles)?

They haven't banned any of my modded consoles and I was playing PSVita with it online while playing GT7 on PS5 this year. I even synced the trophies so they dont really care about anything that isnt PS4-5

My PS3 and Vita are both online and connected to my actual PSN accounts, and I have had no issues with them. I can sideload whatever apps I want while still using the real store and tracking my achievements. PS4 is a different story, the jailbreak I used at least means I had to wipe my device and can't log into PSN, otherwise it tries to undo itself.

I wonder if this'll affect NoPayStation somehow since it downloads from Sony Servers.

But whatever happens, the entire library of both systems has been freely downloadable for years so, nothing to fear.
