Bungie announces layoffs

No surprise. Marathon has dipped below 10K players. Since they didn't have another team working on Destiny 3, a Destiny 3 would be 6+ years and probably upwards of $500M to develop. Bungie doesn't survive this.

Oh-no-anyway.webp

I'm sorry for all of those talented devs who are gonna be out of a job because of this.

I'm not sorry since they literally removed paid expansions and then didn't refund the people who bought them. Once they became thieves, I stopped supporting them as someone who once put them on a pedestal. And it's not just the fact that they removed content that people bought and didn't refund them, it's also the fact that it was quality content that was lore heavy and its removal made Destiny 2 worse.

This is definitely unfortunate for the employees.. but also this is one of the MOST reasonable reasons to lay people off. Game devs are essentially contractors. The project is definitively done. Those people are done with the job. It's time for them to find a new contract.

That's not the software developers fault. That's the fault of the higher ups.

"I'm glad all those cashiers got fired because grocery store managers increased the cost of food!"

too bad the execs who ruined bungie got golden parachutes
it was always greedy but every 3rd expansion or so was fun
still salt i paid 90 dollars into a game and they disabled everything but the guns i got from the dlcs..
like if i want to play the campaigns i purchased they are not even online who would give them money ?

thats what pissses me off man
they just scapegoat it onto the people who are not really the problem
so all the people who were what made destiny 1/2 great when it wasnt being ruined by the execs now get to take the losses the execs deserve while trash like pete parsons gets to enjoy his undeserved car collection. its not even a free market at this point they just rig everything oh well lol.

How's that ten live service games on the go at once strategy going Sony?
