Breath of Fire IV is by far one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, and it's truly amazing how good the art direction in this game is. The sprites and animations in this game are insanely beautiful and the character designs are simply fantastic, Tatsuya Yoshikawa is a genius.

Absolutely, 100% agreed. Breath of Fire IV isn’t just beautiful — it’s art in motion. The sprite work is so fluid and detailed that it feels almost dreamlike, and every frame looks like it was crafted with insane care. The way the characters move, the way the world breathes around them — it’s timeless. Tatsuya Yoshikawa — the man is a genius.

I was given Breath of Fire III for the PS1 when I was very young. I was too young to get very far, but the introduction sequence with the dragon in the crystal and the dragon burning the miners to a crisp is ingrained into my memory.

I have put Breath of Fire I and II on my Everdrive GBA Mini and hope to finally play Breath of Fire III through when I pick up a PS2.
 
Jean, My favorite character [At least in his transformation form] his attack moves, sound and his special attack [Chop] make him the best char for me

I was a fan of the series. Breath of Fire IV is actually my least favorite, I had a lot of issues with it. I'm a big fan of 2 and 3, 1 is good too. Never played Dragon Quarter, or even really considered it seriously. Just sounded too different.
I'm not mad that the series is dead. I don't understand why people think companies are supposed to keep every series going forever. Mega Man has five millions games and people still complain that Capcom "forgot about it" or whatever. Nothing's forever, everything has its time. The real BOF is a '90s series (December 2000 for IV), even if they made a new one it'd be nothing like the old ones.
 
4 was my gateway to the series. My sister was the one who bought BoF4 and decided to try it, then I tagged along and played it too.

We both finished the game blindly without any guides and reckon we did miss a LOT of stuffs (looking at the fishing minigame!), then when interent was a thing and guides were showing up. Currently we're playing the PSX version with the patches and restoration in it for a full BoF4 experience ::thumbsupwario

It's funny, I got into Breath of Fire 2 because my older brother was playing it back in the day, and it was how I got into RPGs too.
 
I wonder how many people knew that IV had a PC port back in the day before the GOG re-release. That port is how I got into JRPGs though ironically I'm not too fond of the rest of the series. I and II are run of the mill at best and III is alright but it never really clicked with me the way IV did. The less said about later entries the better.

Speaking of the GOG re-release, did they restore the censored content or is emulating the PSX original hacks still the way to go?

its 1 of those game that are beautiful and the world just feel alive

have played dragon quarter but it just to different from the other games in the series
its not a bad game
