When I find myself out of the house and with a bit of free time, I like to indulge in a hobby of mine. I enjoy looking in various stores for bootleg merchandise of popular brands/characters. It's a fun and (mostly) free way to kill a bit of time. I almost never buy any of them, but I thought I would share some of my favourites that I've found over the years:

I think My Little Pony is by far the one I've seen most bootlegs of. It's usually some slight variation on the name, but with obviously stolen characters and art

Note the typo of "Hores" in the bottom right of the first image

Maybe my single favourite bootleg? I love how odd the characters look, and how cheap the box looks with all the characters haphazardly placed around it.

Not to mention it's branded as "Sonic X" but has the Werehog version of Sonic. It's wrong on a number of levels. I very nearly bought this one, and almost regret not buying it ::sailor-embarrassed

This next one has to be the best attempt I've seen at trying to have a similar, but distinct, name to what you're ripping off: These aren't Transformers, but Deformers with quote "Manual Deformation"

I also love the phrase "Deformed Star God", like it's a Bloodborne boss or something. Note the "Fight for Justice Luxury Gift" & "New Upgraded Cool Styling". Brilliant ::eggmanlaugh

The one I did buy: The Kuromi keychain that kick-started my Hello Kitty fandom

It honestly looked too good to me at first to think it was a bootleg, but the shop that I bought it from also sold these:

Anyway, please feel free to share any fun pictures or stories you may have of bootleg merchandise!::peacemario

I used to see bootleg bags and toys from Pokemon and Dragon Ball. Once just for lolz I bought a bag that had Ash and Pikachu but it had Dragon Ball logo on it lol. And then there were weird Dragon Ball Z action figures, like they showed the guy a picture and he tried to do its best to produce the toy as much as he understood from it lol.

Before I started collecting SD Gundam gasha, I bought bootleg versions made of vulcanized rubber

Back then, the prices were 25 pcs of bootlegs = 2 originals. Sadly, the designs were limited (none of the real famous ones like those from Wing or SEED

Later on, bought bootleg PC paraphernalia from a locally famous (or infamous) retail store which suddenly disappeared (if you're from my country, you know it ๐Ÿ˜‰). Missed their cheap PC keyboards (had one that lasted for 7 years), mouse (4 years), usb gamepads and usb flightstick (which I used for the pc game Jane's F/A-18)

This is easily one of my favourites. It's the bootleg plush that inspired Fake Crash in the Crash Bandicoot Franchise.

Literally look at how they massacred my boy.

I love those shitty Kuromiโ€™s you find at gas stations and random shops, they're always uncomfortably fluffy and look like the character ate a bee.

Also the figures

In a lot of British shopping centres you used to find these crappy Gatcha machines that were always filled with the shittiest looking keyrings that looked like a melted Hello Kitty. These aren't from them but they're a good approximation:

here in the US there were fake Pokemon toys similar to those and came in a little box set. One was a little grey mummy with yellow eyes, another was a yellow and red mushroom guy , and finally an orange dragon looking dude with sunglasses. I wish i could find a picture of them. I will try to find them and take a picture and post it here. They're weird.

the mushroom guy looked like Mushboom from Secret of Mana but with a red top and yellow body and a freaked out look on his face.

this isn't the one but it was the same color palette.

the figurines came with fake Pokeballs that were half blue and half red or half red and half yellow ect and they had faces on them with eyes and teeth. So it looked like their mouths opened and closed like they were eating the monsters. They had strings on them and you had to fling them at the monsters with their mouths open to catch them like traps.

This is how the toy worked. The bottom half of it's mouth would roll inside the head and there was a little plastic clip inside that would spring the trap when it came into contact with the toys. It would snap shut and catch the monsters. The string was like a rubber band so you could throw and retract it.

bro that is such an elaborate bootleg these things sound baller as fuck.

The release mechanism sounds a bit like reverse Bakugan toys or something. I kind of want to find out more about these things.

I remember buying the Dollar General wrestling figure knock offs like this:

I can't believe they didn't get sued since it's literally just Dude Love.

They eventually got in the ECW figures -- which were awesome, by the way -- and I started buying those, but they were a lot more expensive ($4 or $5, I think).
