Hmm...
I'd say a book that changed me was The wind up bird chronicles by Murakami.

I already told the story of how i read it as 11? year old (Something around that, i cant remember well)
Sure, i read before that, but it was mostly mythology and kids books, but here i took a peek into the "adult" books so to speak. If you know the book, you get what im talking about.

It changed me cause i saw this whole other world i didnt know existed at the time. It showed me how adults lived their daily life (for the most part) and made me interested in other cultures. So it opened my mind

After ten years, i dont think the book is anything special (although i need to reread it), but i thank it for giving me more life experience

Gonna sound super cliched, but To Kill A Mockingbird alongside the manga YKK, hit me so hard in the heart, that it makes me want to be a better person in life. Unlike YKK, To Kill A Mockingbird has more dark moments and covering topics of racism, but there is still that optimism of believing in the good side of human nature that I want to believe in going forward. Its a classic and one of the greatest books of all time for a reason I believe.

I have to say, I have been reading YKK, and wow, every time I read it, I feel like I am drifting away into this serene, warm bath...if that makes any sense. It's really relaxing.

This is why I loved my time being young now that I am older, everything was so magical, and you could create these grand epic journeys where you make the hill on the playground as the mountain where the dragon lies (as an example). Being young makes one carefree, and with this carefreeness, you start not really caring about the problems you are facing. As such, every small thing, no matter how big or small, boring or exciting, becomes that bit more exceptional and grand. For example, the book you read, being young, I would say, aided in you having had it change you as much as it did. Why? Because when you are young, you grasp things very quickly, and that in and of itself makes you have stronger attachments and memories to it. I don't know if my rambling makes any sense, but life is beautiful, I think, and I am thrilled that we have such a thing as the gift of memories, because without them, I think life would have been very boring to say the least.

Roots

Initially, I picked it up because I was interested to learn more about african-american history. What I got instead was a story so riveting I did not want to put it down.

I read it for a 6th grade essay. The essay was supposed to be a page long, but I wrote several. I got an A+.
