Many people may not grow up with this spinning toy, I can't blame you. After the OG Bakuten Shoot Beyblade anime, I stopped watching the other generations as it is not edgy enough (as a child) and the animation changed, the beyblades are now in 3D. As a child growing up with your childhood adventures, growing up with the trendy toys at the time (Super yoyo, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, Crush Gear, etc.) It has always been a dream to be like that from those anime series, going out with friends to travel to places and challenge people to whatever trendy toys are at the time. But as a child, either that's hard to do or you simply can't. (Life is not like Pokemon, I know).

But this time, one of those toy trend from the past has came back. Well, it didn't left anyway but this toy line has came back big this generation. Beyblade X. This is the 4th generation Beyblade series. This time, Takara Tomy the creators of the toy had made their minds to make the game more serious than ever. They market this generation as a sport. They even name it under a sub-sport genre they call "Gear Sports".

Beyblade nowadays is designed similar to a smart or athletic vibe. Just with the Bit chip / gear chip (The middle part where the animal or creature design is) design alone, you can see that it looks like a sports team logo.

They even made the design a bit of a minimalistic approach, from the Beyblade X logo, to the blade boxes themself. It's marketing and advertisement shows adult, playing the game. Those with business attires and casual street cloths. This time, this game is serious.

It's not just the design that has changed, the whole battle has changed as well. The way the Beyblades clash to each other. They're giving the freedom of customization, the feeling of making your own design or combo by combining multiple different parts such as Main blades, Ratchet and Bit.

Main blades has their own unique design and quirks, some gives you a balance design to outspin enemy blades, others give you that ultimate One hit wonder attack blade. Some even have some gimmicks too like inner blades or rolling blades.

Ratchets determine the sizes, additional balance or stability and height. It can even give additional protection based on the ratchet that you'll pick. (There's actually a lot).

Bits are the most exciting part of the game, a single bit can change how a Beyblade works as bits change how the Beyblade moves, stays in the stadium and even determine the speed as well.

Combining the 3 parts and making your own design and combo felt satisfying especially when you see it work. Of course there are meta builds which are no brainer. It's more exciting to come up with your own. But to each their own I guess.

Not affiliated with the channel but here are some example of how Beyblade fights are going right now. It's exciting, clutch and hype! Watch and see what the fuzz is all about. I hope you guys enjoy and maybe play the game too! Since we're adults now, we can go out there and be the best there is. There's literally a lot of cafe and stores that has Beyblade tournaments not to mention international ones too!

Nice! I grew up with the anime and had quite a few of those myself! Even competed in a few tournaments during the height of its popularity (it didn't go well).

That said... I always found it kinda funny that the ones gotten from potato chip bags and cereal boxes had a much better built quality than the official product lol.

I remember when I was younger my aunt bought me and my cousins some knockoff beyblades from some Chinese corner store. The metal rings had these little flint stubs on them. We used to battle in a metal gold pan and sparks would just fly everywhere.

My nephew just got a beyblade. They seem a lot worse than the ones when I was younger. They feel cheap and shitty. The new spinners seem kinda cool though. Better than those plastic zip tie things they used to come with. The beyblades themselves seem kinda garbage though.

You should try competing again! It's more fun this time!

Same! When we were kids of course most parents would buy the cheapest toy haha! We had chinese knock offs too. But the most important thing is it became part of our childhood! But I'm promoting this now. I hope you give this another try!

Sounds like more of the gimmicks. I've seen them all.
When I heard beyblade burst came out thinking.... Original beyblades DID burst occasionally. And when they did it make it all more epic. All the gimmicks launchers too.
Still think it's a great game for children to build their own and learn some cool physics in the process.

Honestly I remember Beyblade (The Original & Classic) and sometimes the sequel (Beyblade: Metal Fusion which is considered the weakest sequel to the Beyblade franchise) in this case the Anime that was shown on Nex TV (21) in my country in the afternoon the Beyblade Classic (Monday to Friday) and the Sequel on Saturday mornings that was back in the year 2014-15 respectively what times. A pity that Nex TV stopped showing cartoon and animes in 2015 to give it a more generalist programming like your competing channels in my country such as TVN (2) and Telemetro (13) but, well. Not all good things last forever.

someone talking about beyblade?! holy hell... i still own my plastic gen, heavy metal ones, metal fight to metal fury (sad that hasbro made two different releases, the horrible ones without features and the takara ones way later) but never bothered with burst because too much of a mess :p

i have been questioning myself a lot about X considering ive got a cat and uh... animals and beyblades they um... dont go well together ::booshy

to be fair the plastic series all the way at the start had issues breaking easily (ignoring the bad plastic decisions for the gold or "special color" ones) but the whole them going into metal route was made more in favor of "youll keep your bey with you longer and it will sustain more damage than the old versions" (which is for example when they made the heavy metal series back in G-Force)

about them shortening ripcords thats really depending. Hasbro has been primarily at fault for already shortening the hell out of them BUT also Beyblade X is meant to be now a series more customisable in terms of "hey lets 3D Print a new part" (lets say ripcord or even a new tip) so long you know what exactly youre doing (there have quite a lot of videos already talking about the larger accessability compared to before)

well true but lets just say ive had one beyblade get destroyed from a bad person and my mom ended that pretty quickly back then XD i just love beyblades to actually stay alive longer than get wrecked after short use

hade beyblade as a child
was really fun to battle friends

one of my beyblade was destroyed in a local tournament
in the tournament all types of beyblade was allowed as long as the beyblade did not weight to mutch
and that it was not to big or to tall

beyblade with modification or rebuild was allowed
even own build beyblades was allowed

third round i lose the guy i did battle against his beyblade was modified with a sharp metal ring it did shred my beyblade to pieces

other than having my beyblade destroyed it was a fun tournament did see alot of extreme modifications and own build beyblades

its fun that beyblade is back and better then they where before

It's not just a children's toy anymore, even in Youtube they all had this disclaimer that you should be 13+ to watch. It had became more dangerous haha

All these new beyblades can never compare to the originals. Why do they keep giving more metal and less plastic and shortening rip cords?
That's me at first. Until you realized that Beyblades now are better (in their own way)
