Chris Avellone claims Bethesda doesn’t have the source code and has “no idea how to reassemble it”. Bethesda may not be able to remaster Fallout: New Vegas because it lacks the “engineering knowhow” to do it without the source code, according to a former lead on the game.

Microsoft can just get someone else to do it, the oblivion remaster tells us they will gladly hand the remaster off to someone else if they can't do it themselves. Also how buggy Bethesda games are on release tells me that duct taping code together is just how they make games, we don't care how it works, so long as it works.

Microsoft loves money and they will start throwing out remasters after remasters after a certain point.

I am just still not so sure, with all their money, why can't they remaster and re-release Jet Set Radio Future. It seems like it's caught up in very, very specific red tape.

Remaster no but an update that fixes the game and add support for 4K/Ultra-Wide and >60FPS would be nice.
that would be nice but i imagine a remaster would be a couple hundred GBs and would have silly hardware requirements compared to what we have now, NV can run on a potato and it still looks good enough!

I will say this even if Obsidian came outboard to help make a remaster I don´t even think they would know how becuse obsidan has proven that 1.
1.They can´t make a good game like new vegas again it was a 1 hit wonder.
2. They are so busy focusing on modern games for no existing audience "so called modern audience".

having played Avowed and the outer worlds I even start to question if they rely did make new Vegas honestly im sure they got the credit they don´t deserve.

Or maybe people are blowing new vegas up the ass way way to much. Because all their game sense has been crap or mediocre at best not even close to new vegas good.

I will say Fallout 3 and New vegas could stand to get a remaster or at least an engine upgrade to the newer version of the creation engine. Because I will say this new vegas and 3 modding is the worst.

Fallout 4 I can run 200+ mods not a single issue runs smoth and never crash. When ever I try modding 3 or new vegas 15+ mod and you start to crash or get other issues.

When I recently wanted to replay vegas I had to follow this dang FNV Performance Guide to get the game running smooth with mods and it´s SALVER pages long.

And the worst part the amount of time it take to follow that guide and get all the mods to work properly with out creches or in-game glitches I could have already spent 20 hours downloading mods and playing fallout 4.

The reason why I hate new vegas so much modding sucks ass. I hate the setting of 50 shades of sand and the gunplay is bit on the wonky side and honestly the only thing the game has going for it is the story.

But to me a game need more than a good story to be enjoyable. Just the same as a game needs more than graphics to be good I don´t care if the game looks hyper realistic if game play and story is trash.

So my honest opinion if they can´t remaster new vegas and fallout 3 is to focus on fallout 5 and maybe if they want make new big DLC for fallout 4 that would be nice becuse I gladly play more fallout 4 that can be modded and runs better.

In and honety fallout 1-2 + 4 are the ones I rather play over 3 and new vegas. Becuse at least they don´t frutrate the hell out of me.

I wouldn't want Bethesda or modern Obsidian touching New Vegas.

I respect Chris Avellone. Like a lot. New Vegas is my favorite game of all time, or at least in the top 3 any day of the week. However, I think he huffs his own farts a little too hard and needs to stop surrounding himself with yes-men. Seen in the aforementioned New Vegas with the entirety of the Lonesome Road DLC feeling like him just autofellatio-ing.

He claims here that Bethesda doesn't have the technical know how without having actually playing the Oblivion remaster, only hearing bad things from people around him. It's clear he's in a bubble, as even though I personally didn't love the Oblivion remaster, it's generally seen in a positive light and has shown that, uh, yeah, Bethesda has the technical know-how.

Now, I'm not defending Bethesda, here. I don't think they've made a good game since Fallout 3 (Skyrim was decent, but felt like a let down for me coming from Oblivion). I also think the Oblivion remaster isn't really the definitive version of the game since it runs rather poorly and somehow retains all of the old bugs, while adding new bugs. A lot of the UI changes were for the worse as well. It also has very little mod support, while I can literally load up a mod from 2006 in the old version without issue right now.
