REmake. Is that the 2002 Gamecube release? Objective best to me is probably REmake. It's the best representation of the old school survival horror style, is still spooky to this day and still somehow looks fantastic visually. After that I'd say REmake2 as the best of the third person games.
Subjectively, RE5 is one of my personal favorites along with the remake of 4, and honourable mentions to RE6 (if you go in knowing what you're going to be getting) which has the greatest action game control scheme that's never been stolen by anything else.
The first movie is decent actually even outside of ironic 'good-bad' entertainment. Some of the later ones are a schlocky mess but still entertaining at least, like Apocalypse and Afterlife, and the rest are abysmal basically.
Yes, that's the one. It's also on some other consoles now of course.REmake. Is that the 2002 Gamecube release?
REmake and 3: Nemesis do it for me, with 2, CODE: Veronica, 4, VII: Biohazard and REmakes 2 & 4 also being great.View attachment 128877
I've only played RE2 (PSX) and RE4 (Gamecube).
Bonus question. Are the movies worth watching?
Dude. No. That game is ass. It's not even the "greatest action game control scheme that's never been stolen by anything else", it's a slippery, overly circular mess where most of the functions aren't even required most of the time.honourable mentions to RE6 (if you go in knowing what you're going to be getting) which has the greatest action game control scheme that's never been stolen by anything else.
Okay, I'll deal with it.Dude. No. That game is ass. It's not even the "greatest action game control scheme that's never been stolen by anything else", it's a slippery, overly circular mess where most of the functions aren't even required most of the time.
Don't even think about accusing me of "MUH SKILL ISSUE". Just don't. It's bad, deal with it.
Yeah, it's famed for not being very good and a monkey's paw moment for the film series, where the fans and audiences got the adaptation of the game stories they were hoping for, but it turned out to not be very good and just as unfaithful as Resident Alice (the prior film series).Okay, I'll deal with it.
I haven't watched Return to Racoon City (the newest movie) yet actually. Was it any good? I'm assuming since I basically heard nothing about it after it came out that it probably wasn't.
I still get nervous in OG RE3, and I'm a XX year old alleged adult now. It's the police station that always gets me, that one random spawn he does in the staircase hallway next to the 1F save room where he jumps through the window sometimes. Masterful. For some reason... Nemesis was the only one to really click with me, but it did so so spectacularly that I'm STILL kinda afraid of playing it, which is one hell of an impressive achievement.

I don't know what does it for me... I think it's a combination of world-building + music + atmosphere -- reading all those files while the ominous score keeps playing and getting that foreboding written warning from less fortunate souls while roaming around areas with just the right amount of decay (so you can kinda see that this was a functioning city not long ago) gives me that distinct "I'm gonna be next" vibe that's impossible to shake off even as you get the infinite rifle and junk.I still get nervous in OG RE3, and I'm a XX year old alleged adult now.
