Maybe that Pokémon Emerald roguelike romhack. I remember getting addicted to it, I had to ask for my gf's help to overcome the addiction ?

I'm not joking, I lost sleep and couldn't concentrate at work playing that romhack. It was literally addiction. I don't dare touch the game again, I don't even touch Pokémon anymore

I wanted to say Paper Mario Black Pit, but it's on N64, lol.

I don't think I can name one. I've played Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda "Ancient Cave-like" romhacks, but none of them really hooked me

Right, I heard that "Black Pit" is the best.
But Miyoo mini can't support N64
If you're interested in Pokemon rom hack
I think I can do it.
 
In terms of games that I find very fun? I would recommend: Tower of Druaga (PCE), Dragon Slayer (Saturn Falcom Classics), Fatal Labyrinth (Genesis/Mega Dive). Those three lay a solid foundation, but are missing that armor tier, trading, and crafting zest that modern games tend to play with. Except for Diablo, their claim to fame is drawing a map from a bag of premade tiles (very common technique in British quasi-TTRPG boardgames).
