Just wondering which titles that plays like GTA do you consider the best?
GTA chapters excluded ofc :)

If you have Wii/360/PS3, i reccomend The Godfather Blackhand Edition, a remake of the already good PS2 game, think of it like GTA in Prohibiton era with VCS's empire building nooks and cranes
GUN is also good, think of it like Red Dead Redemption's prequel, even having similar slowdown mechanics, yet feeling unique with mechanics and less tragic ending
, kinda short for a sandbox game but a enjoyable quest while it lasts

True Crime Streets of LA is a fun game much like GTA where you play as a cop. Simpsons Hit & Run is also a classic that plays out in episodes where each one you play as a different character.

Mafia and Mafia II (but I also like heavily criticised Mafia III), Saints Row III and IV

True Crime : New York on PS2 and Crackdown on Xbox360 are two that i have liked back then

completely forgot about the Driver serie :)

Also True Crime is worth checking for the great music.

Sleeping Dogs is really great if you like the idea of a more melee combat focused GTA-like game.

Mercenaries 1 and 2, Saints Row 3 and Just Cause (specially 2 and 3) series if you like a crazy aproach, and I would add Simpson Hit and Run to these ''crazy gta'' games.
If you want a more classic crime/real world aproach, Sleeping Dogs, Watch Dogs, Mafia I and II, The True Crime Series and Scarface
And if you want some open world with different settings or mechanics that still feels (somewhat) like a GTA then you have Bully, Yakuza series and Postal 2.
And keep your eye on 171, a indie GTA clone set in Brazil.

Saints Row 2 and The Third, Sleeping Dogs.

I played it back then on the GameCube, worst open world game ever.

Crackdown was extremely fun to me. Imagine GTA but on crack (no pun intended) and you get to blow things up and shoot out gangs at your own pace, while beating up gang bosses. Meanwhile you also have rpg-like systems where you improve your stats like explosives, strength, run speed and weapon handling

I remember having a lot of fun with the licensed Godfather game. It had an insanely good atmosphere and it was fun shoving people into ovens.

a lot of Sleeping Dogs suggestions :)

watching some tube videos of this, seems promising

I played it back then on the GameCube, worst open world game ever. (about True Crime)
i also played it on Gamecube back then, yeah i didn't like it too
perhaps it was better on Xbox/PS2 i dunno;
